In the settings of a Moodle assignment, under Grade you can set Hide grader identity from students to Yes to hide the name of the grader to the student. This can avoid student confusion, especially when multiple markers and administrators handle assignment submissions.

From the Gradebook Setup screen, click Edit for the grade item you wish to hide. If you wish to manually hide the grade immediately, simply click the Hide option from the dropdown menu. The grade item will have to manually be toggled back to visible when ready by repeating the same steps.

Anonymous grading can be turned on to hide student information from staff during the marking process. Anonymous grading can be useful for avoiding unconscious bias when marking. To use this feature in Canvas, you must first enable it in your subject settings, and then within the individual assignment.

Sudden changes in performance (be they for better or worse) can indicate cheating. Blackboard also monitors the frequency and timing of logins. Multiple logins from different areas in a short amount of time, or from very different IP addresses could raise a red flag.

Hide grade category

You can hide all the grades within a category by hiding the grade category. Grade categories are displayed in a folder icon and highlighted in grey. Select the Edit link on the same row as the name of the category. Select Hide from the menu that opens.

Disable grade history

History tracking of changes in grades-related tables may be disabled by checking the disablegradehistory box.

From your course, Go to Grade Setup (left sidebar). Under visibility settings (last section), check the boxes for Hide overall grade in student grade report and Hide grading period grades in student grade report.

Select Edit settings on the resulting webpage. In the General section of the settings, click the Course visibility menu and select Show. Scroll to the end of the page and click Save and display.

The easiest way to do so is to log in as admin then browse a course gradebook and follow the 'Change defaults' links. The following additional grade settings can be found in Site administration > Grades > General settings. The settings will affect all gradebooks used by all teachers.
