Seventh grade (also 7th Grade or Grade 7) is the seventh year of formal or compulsory education. The seventh grade is typically the first, second or third year of middle school. In the United States, children in seventh grade are usually around 12–13 years old.

The GPA is calculated on a 4.0 scale. This means that each letter grade corresponds to a certain number of points. For example, a student who earns all A's in his or her classes will have a 4.0 GPA. A student who makes all B's will have a 3.0 GPA, and a student who earns all C's will have a 2.0 GPA.

Primary, or elementary, education lasts until fifth grade, middle school or junior high school covers sixth through eighth grade, followed by secondary education in ninth through 12th grades. Secondary education can cover both college-preparatory curriculum or vocational training.

In the US, a student in the eleventh grade is typically referred to as a junior. The vast majority of students who are classified as juniors take the SAT Reasoning Test and/or ACT in the second semester of their third year of high school.

By the time kids reach the seventh grade, they are typically around 12 to 13 years old, a stage that marks the beginning of their adolescent years. This period is characterized by rapid physical growth, cognitive development, and emotional changes, making it a crucial time for parental guidance and support.

These same terms apply in the same way to the four years of a standard high school: 9^th grade is freshman year, 10^th grade sophom*ore year, 11^th grade junior year, and 12^th grade senior year. But these same words are not used to describe the years of graduate school.

Most jurisdictions in the United States require or offer only twelfth grade as the final year of secondary school. Some school districts in Oregon offer a thirteenth grade. In North Carolina, early college high schools may provide 5 years, providing a grade 13.

Twelfth graders are referred to as Seniors. Many students consider the twelfth grade, also known as the senior year of high school, a year to relax and prepare for the transition out of their old lives into college/university or the workplace.
