Normal Attacks[]
A Gun user's Normal Attack chain consists of 3-6 quick short-range or long-range attacks. The trajectory of long-range Gun Normal Attacks are usually fixed in a straight line, and can miss if the target moves out of its path, however unlikely. Due to being considered Blunt Attacks, Gun attacks deal increased damage to Geo objects and certain Shields.
Charged Attacks[]
By holding down the Normal Attack button or clicking the Aiming Mode button, gun users will enter Aiming Mode, in which players can control where the characters aim. Aimed Shots fired in this mode will have increased damage, but either lesser or greater range depending on the subtype. This will be considered Charged Attack DMG regardless of how long they have been charged.
While in Aiming Mode, one of two possible types of Charged Attacks can occur depending on the subtype:
- For "Automatic" subtypes, holding attack has the character continuously fire rounds which will drain their Ammunition Meter. When this attack ends, the Ammunition Meter is instantly refilled after a short amount of time. These have the same amount of Blunt damage as Swords.
- For "Single-Shot" subtypes, the gun will accumulate power and become fully charged in a short amount of time. A fully-charged shot is also considered a Blunt Attack.
Regardless of subtype, an Aimed Shot will deal Elemental DMG (with the exception of certain Physical damage dealers).
Additionally, the Aimed Shot of certain subtypes are capable of piercing enemies.
Hitting the enemy's weak spot with an Aimed Shot automatically guarantees a CRIT Hit, and will deal greater poise damage and knockback. A sound will play upon landing one.
- On Ruin Machines, this is on the exposed cores.
- On most Mystical Beasts and most humanoid enemies (Kairagi, Nobushi, Treasure Hoarders, Fatui, etc.), this is directly on the head.
- On certain enemies, the weak point may be protected until the enemy performs certain actions.
Subtypes[]
Guns have various subtypes that offer different properties in several aspects:

- ↑ The amount of shots required until the meter is fully depleted and reloading is needed.
- ↑ The time required before the Ammunition Meter is refilled.
Bullet Infusion[]
Fully-Charged shots can create Elemental Reactions when interacting with the environment. These reactions will not consume the elemental aura on the bullet. For example, it has been observed that:
- Anemo bullets can Swirl in the rain.
- Electro bullets explode when coming in contact with Pyro.
- Cryo bullets can be Frozen mid-air by the rain and vice-versa.
Plunging Attacks[]
All Gun users have similar animations when plunging, which involves them striking downward foot-first and shooting everything around them in a burst of bullets upon striking the ground.
Gun Plunging Attacks are considered non-Blunt melee attacks.
