Etymology[]
The myriad of Claymore hairstyles are almost unmentioned by characters in manga and anime, despite prominence.
Sole mention of hairstyle is when during Clare's final exam, she is forced to cut off 2/3 of her hair to hang out window to decoy a Yoma. Clare's rival thinks she looks better with the accidental pageboy.[8]
Personality[]
Hairstyle may indicate personality—the flame-like hair of Miria and Rachel, for example. But often, complete opposites share the same style. Dietrich vs. Roxanne, Nina vs. Veronica, Ophelia vs. Tabitha. A style of innocence may deceive the unwary.
History[]
Origin[]
As young girls, Claymore trainees are implanted with Yoma tissue, a painful process that results in a half-Yoma being. Eyes turn silver and the hair turns blonde of varying shades.[9]
One exception is Clarice, where the Yoma transplant partially took hold, the original brunette hair fading to medium brown.[10]
Post-operative[]
Unknown growth rate of hair, if any, after adulthood is reached. After Clare's hair is cut during her final exam, it is not seen long again.[11]
In the case of Anastasia, hair can be attached to objects and Yoma entities, then charged with Yoma energy to adjust the strands strength (see Winged Technique).
