Finding Your Hotspot Network Security Key on Android

Step 1: In settings, go to Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering. Step 2: Tap Mobile Hotspot. Step 3: Tap Password. Step 4: Select Show Password if there's an option.

A network security key, more commonly referred to as a Wi-Fi password, is login information that keeps your internet connection and network secure. You will create your network security key the first time you set up your wireless router and need it whenever you want to connect a new device to your network.

A network security key is the same as the password for a Wi-Fi network. A network security key typically consists of 8-12 characters, biometric data, or a digital signature, and it's a vital layer of cyber protection that ensures a secure connection between a network and any connected devices.

In the network and sharing center, select the name of the network with which you want to connect with, and then in the Wi-Fi status, select the wireless properties. In wireless network properties, select the network security key option, enter your password, and then enter the next button.

In Network and Sharing Center, next to Connections, select your Wi-Fi network name. In Wi-Fi Status, select Wireless Properties. In Wireless Network Properties, select the Security tab, then select the Show characters check box. Your Wi-Fi network password is displayed in the Network security key box.

If you can't find the network security key on the router, check your router's instruction manual. After locating your default network security key, it's a good idea to change the password periodically. This helps keep your Wi-Fi network safe from hackers or people piggybacking off your internet connection.

You can find this from the phone Settings> Connections> Mobile Hotspot and Tethering> Mobile Hotspot> Search for Set up Wi-Fi hotspot or similar. On that screen you will see an option to set the network name, security, password and network band. You can change them or keep them as they are.

Make sure the physical Wi‑Fi switch on your laptop is turned on. (An indicator light usually shows when it's on.) Make sure your PC isn't in airplane mode. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, select Settings, then select the Network icon.

If you have never connected to your private home WiFi network on the Xfinity Wireless Gateway, you'll need to enter the Network Key that is printed on the label affixed to the bottom of the Wireless Gateway and click Next. If you have changed the network key from the original setting, enter that key instead.
