How do I prevent others from casting to my Google Cast-enabled device? (2024)
By design, anyone who has access to your Home Wi-Fi network can cast to your TV. This makes devices that work with Google Cast great for sharing videos between friends. If you want to prevent people from casting to your TV, make your Home Wi-Fi network password protected and only give out the password to people you trust.

For Chromecast and Chromecast Audio devices, you can manage your privacy settings in the Google Home app. For Android TV devices, you can manage this setting through the Chromecast settings in the settings menu.

Go to Device > Chrome > Settings > Users and browsers. Select the Organizational Unit which contains the users you want to edit. Change the Screencast policy to Do no allow users to view or create screencasts. Save changes.
If you want to hide what you're watching on Chromecast, you can use Incognito in Chrome. Either that or clear your Chrome history when you're finished. Both will prevent someone from seeing what you've watched in the past. Another way to mask what you're watching on Chromecast is to cast your whole screen.
Although Chromecast does not have native password protection, there are third-party solutions available that can help enhance its security. These solutions often involve setting up a separate network or implementing additional software or hardware to secure the casting process.
