Resetting and restoring your Ledger Nano X involves two separate processes: resetting the device itself and restoring your accounts using your recovery phrase.
Important things to remember before you begin:
- Resetting your Ledger Nano X will erase all data on the device, including your PIN and any installed apps.
- You will need your 24-word recovery phrase to restore your accounts after a reset. If you lose your recovery phrase, you will permanently lose access to your cryptocurrency assets.
Resetting your Ledger Nano X:
There are two ways to reset your Ledger Nano X:
- Through the Settings menu
- Unlock your Ledger device by entering your PIN code.
- Hold both buttons on the device for 3 seconds to open the Control Center.
- Navigate to “Settings” and press both buttons to confirm.
- Select “Security” and press both buttons to confirm.
- Choose “Reset device” and press both buttons to confirm.
- Review the warning message and press the right button to continue the reset process.
- By entering three incorrect PIN codes:
- Turn on your Ledger device.
- Enter an incorrect PIN code three times in a row.
- The device will automatically reset after the third incorrect attempt.
Restoring your Ledger accounts:
Once your device is reset, you can restore your accounts using your recovery phrase. Here’s how:
- Open Ledger Live on your computer or mobile device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to choose “Restore from recovery phrase”.
- Your Ledger device will display a welcome message. Press both buttons to proceed.
- Enter your 24-word recovery phrase when prompted.
- Ledger will verify your recovery phrase and guide you through setting a new PIN
Ledger Live will guide you through the process of reinstalling any apps you previously had installed.
