The concept of taking an “L” was pretty foreign for Tom Brady.
He’s the G.O.A.T. at the quarterback spot, after all, with almost enough Super Bowl rings to fill up both of his hands.
But “was” is a key word there because, let’s be honest, Brady has taken his fair share of losses in this stretch of 2022-2023. There was the whole retirement, un-retirement thing that reportedly caused issues in his marriage to supermodel Gisele Bundchen. And, as Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers limped to an 8-9 record this year, the marriage was dissolved in public.

But the losses appear to not have been limited to the playing field and Brady’s personal life.
Reports this week say that it appears he took a big hit in the billfold, too.
Because the legendary passer reportedly had a large stake in the FTX Trading which recently collapsed. How large of a stake? Well, some reports peg Brady’s holdings at around 1.1 million shares. The value of those shares has been estimated to be $93 million. Bundchen also reportedly had a stake in FTX with a reported 680,000 shares which would have been worth about $57 million.
After the collapse those shares have dropped from around $80 each to about 92 cents each. And they probably aren’t going to go up anytime soon. Brady and Bunchden are also reportedly defendants in a lawsuit filed against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. That lawsuit claims that Brady and other celebrities “used deceptive practices to push the scheme.”

So, it’s been a tough run for Brady, and it might get tougher.
If there’s good news, he and the Bucs did make the playoffs, and they will get a chance to get the postseason going Monday against the Dallas Cowboys.
