Complete these steps
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select Internet, and then Internet Settings.
- The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals.
- Select the connection you wish to edit, located under Registered Networks.
- Select Change Settings.
- Select from the following options to enter your network information:
- Network Name
Enter the nickname you want to give this network connection within the Internet settings, such as "Living Room" or "Grandma's House". If you leave this field blank, your router's SSID will be used as the network name.
- SSID
Enter the SSID (broadcast name) of the wireless router you are connecting to. If you don't know your router's SSID, please contact your Internet Service Provider and follow our tips to find it.
- Security
Enter the router's security type and wireless password. If you don't know this information, please contact your Internet Service Provider and follow our tips to find it.
- IP Address Settings
Select Automatic (recommended for most home networks) to automatically obtain IP address settings from the router. If your network requires it, select Manual and enter the appropriate network IP address, subnet mask, and gateway. Your Internet Service Provider and our tips on finding your network's IP information can help with this.
- DNS Settings
Select Automatic (recommended for most home networks) to automatically obtain DNS settings from the router. If your network requires it, select Manual and enter the appropriate Primary and Secondary DNS. Your Internet Service Provider can help with this, or you can enter Google's public DNS.
- Proxy Settings
Select Off (recommended for most home networks) if you are not connecting through a proxy. Otherwise, select Yes and enter the appropriate info for the proxy server, port, and auto-authentication. Your Internet Service Provider can help you determine this information, if needed.
- MTU
Keep the MTU at the default value of 1400 (recommended for most home networks), or enter the appropriate MTU value for your network, if needed. Your Internet Service Provider can help you determine this information.
- Connect to a Hidden Network
Select On (recommended) to allow the Nintendo Switch console to connect to hidden networks, which are networks that do not broadcast their SSID, or select Off to not allow this.
- Network Name
- Select Save, and then select OK to confirm the changes.
- Select Connect to this Network to test the saved connection, or select Back to return to the Internet settings.
