How do you earn interest on a bank balance using an auto sweep facility?
With an auto sweep facility, you can earn interest on your bank balance by automatically transferring excess funds from your savings account into a linked fixed deposit account. The process begins when your savings account balance exceeds a predefined threshold limit. The surplus amount above this limit is "swept in" and converted into an FD. This FD portion earns a higher interest rate compared to the regular savings account balance. When you need funds for transactions, the auto sweep facility "sweeps out" the required amount from the FD and transfers it back to the savings account, ensuring liquidity. The interest earned on the FD is typically the same as that of a standard FD offered by the bank. This facility allows you to optimize your interest earnings while maintaining easy access to your funds for day-to-day requirements. It provides a convenient way to earn higher returns on idle funds without sacrificing liquidity.

Are there any fees or charges payable for using this facility?
This facility is provided free of cost by the banks. In the case of toll-free numbers, the customer does not incur phone charges, as well. However, in the case of sending regular SMS, the standard SMS charges apply.
Are the missed calls and balance enquiry facility push or pull alerts?
The missed call and balance enquiry facilities are 'pull' alerts. Push alerts are those where the bank sends you an SMS alert without you requesting for the same.
