Notion is a powerful tool for organizing and managing your work and personal projects. With the recent release of the desktop app, you can now create tabs in Notion to better organize your pages and navigate between them more easily.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create tabs in Notion.
How To Create Tabs In Notion (Desktop App)
- Navigate to your Notion workspace on the desktop app.
- Go up to the top left corner of the page and hit the '+' icon.
- This will create a new tab of the same page you're on.
- Now you can navigate between tabs at the top of your Notion pages. Simply click on the tab you want to view to switch to it.
- To delete a tab, simply hit the 'x' next to the tab you no longer need.

How To Create Tabs In The Notion WebApp
This is little trickier, since Notion doesn't actually have a native feature for this in the browser. Instead, you have a couple of options:
- Open multiple windows and use 'Alt' + 'Tab' to switch between browser windows; or
- You can watch the video below for a tutorial on how to create tabs in Notion the 'old school' way (before Notion's native feature release).
When To Use Notion Tabs
Notion tabs are a great way to organize your pages and keep your work organized. Here are a few ways you can use them:
- To organize different sections of a project: If you're working on a large project, you can use tabs to separate different sections or stages of the project. This makes it easier to find and access the information you need without having to scroll through a long page.
- To keep track of multiple pages: If you're working on multiple pages at the same time, you can use tabs to switch between them quickly. This is especially useful if you need to reference information from one page while working on another.
- To save space: If you have a lot of pages open at once, using tabs can help you save space on your screen. Instead of having multiple windows open, you can keep all of your pages organized in one window with tabs.
