How to Delete a Passkey on Apple, Windows and Android (2024)

Where Passkeys are Stored

For Apple users, they are saved to theirpersonal Apple iCloud Keychain or Google Chrome Profile. While Apple and Windows 11 users can remove their passkeys in the operating system settings, Windows 10 users have to search a bit. Android users can delete their passkeys via the Google Password Manager.

In order to make the search a bit easier on all devices, we have created aguide below on how to delete passkeys.

Apple#

Remove Passkeys from your iOS or macOS Device and iCloudKeychain or Chrome Profile

iOS#

Currently, you can only get rid of your passkeys if you use an iPhone with iOS 16+.

1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.

2. Search for Passwords in the search bar and click on "Passwords".

3. Enter your Touch ID, Face ID or passcode (depends on your device andwhat you have set up).

4. Search for the service / website and email / identifer you want todelete the passkey and click on the entry.

6. Click Delete Passkey.

7. Click Delete Passkey in the pop-up.

If you own another Apple device using the same iCloud account, this passkeywill be deleted there as well.

macOS#

Delete Passkey on macOS from iCloud Keychain#

Currently, you can only get rid of your passkeys if you use a MacBook or iMacwith macOS Ventura 13+.

1. Go to System Settings on your MacBook or iMac.

2. Click Passwords in the sidebar.

3. Enter your Touch ID or personal password.

4. Click the info button next to the passkey you want to delete.

5. Click "Edit".

6. Click Delete Passkey.

7. Click Delete Passkey in the pop-up window.

If you own another Apple device using the same iCloud account, this passkeywill be deleted there as well.

Delete Passkey on macOS from Chrome Profile#

1. Open your Google Chrome browser settings in the top right corner. Click on Passwords and Autofill and then on Google Password Manager.

2. In the Google Password Manager, stay on the top left and click on the third menu item Settings (don't scroll down the password list in the center of the page).

3. In the Settings, search for the item Manage passkeys in your Chrome profile and click on this item.

4. A new tab opens (Settings > Autofill and passwords) where you will see a list of all passkeys stored in your Chrome profile. Look for the site for which you want to delete passkey, click on the three dots and on Delete.

5. Confirm by clicking on the Delete button in the modal.

Windows#

Remove passkeys from your Windows device and Windows Hello

Delete Passkey on Windows 10#

Delete Passkey on Windows 11#

Currently, passkeys can only be deleted if you have Windows 11 (e.g., Home Build version 10.0.22521) installedand use Chrome browser version 108+. If you have the Windows 11 23H2 version,you can use the new Passkey Delete UI. (In some cases, the new UI is alsoalready enabled for Windows 11 22H2 devices).

1. Either go to "Accounts > Passkeys" in the settings on the Windowsdevice or search for "Passkey settings" in the search bar.

2. Search for the website where you want to delete the passkey for, e.g."Corbado".

3. All stored passkeys for this website are displayed. Click on the threedots and "Delete passkey".

4. If you decided to delete the passkey in the previous step, you need toconfirm the deletion by clicking "Delete". Afterwards the passkey is deleted(but not your account).

If you have an older version of Windows 11, you can delete your passkeys inthis way.

1. Go to Settings in Chrome.

2. Search for passkey in the search bar and click on PasswordManager.

3. Click on Manage passkeys.

4. Click on the dots next to the passkey you want to delete.

5. Click "Delete".

Android#

Remove passkeys from your Android device and Google Password Manager

Currently, the only way to delete your passkey is if you have Windows 11 (e.g., Home Build version 10.0.22521) installedand use Chrome browser version 108+.

1. Go to Settings in Chrome.

2. Click on Password Manager in Chrome setting.

3. Search for the website where you want to delete the passkey for, e.g."corbado.com" and click on the relevant entry.

4. All stored passkeys for this website are displayed. You can edit anddelete the passkey.

5. If you decided to delete the passkey in the previous step, you need toconfirm the deletion. Afterwards the passkeys is deleted (but not youraccount).
