Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a multi-layered security mechanism, designed to verify the identity of a user before granting them access to an account. It adds an additional layer of protection against unauthorized access.
2FA is particularly crucial for safeguarding your crypto assets and Binance account. Even if a hacker manages to obtain your password, they would still need the second factor (e.g., Google Authenticator) to gain entry to your account, making it considerably more challenging to breach your security.
How to enable Google Authenticator for 2FA on the Binance app?
Before you begin, please download and install the official Google Authenticator app on your mobile device.
1. Log in to your Binance app and tap the [Account] icon. Tap the profile section at the top and go to [Security].
2. Tap [Authenticator App] - [Enable].
3. You’ll see a QR code and a setup key. Copy the setup key. Do not tap [Next] before the Google Authenticator setup is complete.
Open your Google Authenticator app and tap the [+] button. Tap [Enter a setup key] and paste the copied code. Enter a name for the account and tap [Add] and it will be added to your Google Authenticator account.
4. Go back to the Binance app and tap [Next] to proceed.
5. Verify your Google Authenticator by entering the 6-digit code generated by the app.
6. You have successfully enabled Google Authenticator for your Binance account.
For more details on Google Authenticator, please visit:
Log in to your Binance account, access your settings, and navigate to [Security] - [Enable Binance/Google Authenticator Now]. Download the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device. Complete the security verification process by entering the code sent to your email.
In order to make withdrawals from your Binance account, you are required to set up two-factor authentication. Each time you sign in you will be reminded to enable 2FA. Binance offers SMS-based 2FA and app-based 2FA options. And although they promote Google Authenticator, remember that you can use Authy 2FA instead.
Synchronize the time on your mobile phone (to synchronize your Google Authenticator app) and your computer (from which you attempt to log in). Go to the Binance TH Login page with the incognito mode on Google Chrome. Clear your browser cache and cookies. Try to log in from the Binance TH App instead.
Under the 'TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION' header, you will see the available 2FA options: Two-factor Authenticator App: Use an Authenticator App as your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). ...
Click "SET UP" to enable your preferred 2FA method.
Authenticator apps rely on the time set on your device to create the authentication code. If the time on your device does not match the time on your computer then the code will not work. Check the time and date on your phone and make sure they match the computer or device you are logging in from.
Note: If you sign in to your Google Account on any eligible phone, Google prompts is added as a method for 2-Step Verification automatically. Please also enable additional verification methods.
If you use Authenticator for 2-step verification to log in to your Google account but don't have access to Authenticator on your old device, you'll need to restore your Google account to get back in. To do this, go to https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery.
Although we recommend Google Authenticator, here are some popular alternatives that also support 6-digit TOTP codes: Authy. Okta Verify. Microsoft Authenticator.
