Pokemon Sword and Shield have a slew of new pocket monsters to capture and one of the most sought after is Eternatus. Every Pokemon game has a handful of legendaries and Eternatus is not only one of the most powerful, but also a viable element to the plot.
There is an entirely new realm to explore in Pokemon Sword and Shield.The Galar region is where this story takes place and it's reminiscent of Great Britain due to its architecture and weather. Holding tradition of other Pokemon games, players take control of a young trainer that's aiming to become the region's champion. The current champion within this installment is Leon and the player will be tasked with throwing him off his current standing. Players will need some rather powerful Pokemon to pull this off and this will include rounding up some Legendary Pokemon that's scattered throughout Galar. One of the most notable Legendary Pokemon is Eternatus and he's kind of hard to miss while players go through the story. Players will first encounter Eternatus half-way through the Champion Cup at the end of the main campaign. On top of this, there are also 81 new Pokemons to find in this installment along with 13 variations of pre-existing Pokemon that will come with a few changes. So, it's advised to have a rather robust set of upgraded Pokemon before facing Eternatus at the end of the story.

Within the League, there is a conspiracy unraveling in which players will need to tend to over the course of the game. This is associated with a new shadowy antagonist known as "Team Yell". This open-world RPG comes with roaming Pokemon that comes in different forms due to the geographical changes throughout the region. Even weather effects can play a factor in catching particular Pokemon since they only come out during; sunshine, rain, etc. Plus, there are even ways to increase the size of specific Pokemons through a process called "Dynamaxing". This process evolves a Pokemon to the point it has different stats and new moves to utilize. This puts new variety with standard Pokemon and provides options to enhance a player's party with pre-existing pocket monsters in their collection.Pokemon Sword and Shield have a variety of Dynamaxed Pokemon and they can be rampant in certain parts of Galar. Having Eternatus can come in handy against these types of Pokemon, later in the game. This installment has a wide-open area to explore, players are free to hunt down and capture any type of Pokemon and customarily build a party up to their liking. There are even co-op raid battles in which players can team up online and find ways to increase their Pokemon count to their party.
How To Find and Capture Eternatus In Pokemon Sword & Shield
Eternatus shows up fairly late in the game. After players defeat Chairman Rose during the Champion's Cup, they'll be geared towards having a round with Leon. Right before this happens, players will be forced to go to the 'Hammerlocke Energy Plant' just by simply playing the story. So, there's no way around it. Once players get to the plant, the fight with Eternatus will automatically commence. The first phase of this fight will entail Eternatus transforming into "Eternamax Eternatus" which will be a little frightening at first glance. This sight can be a bit overwhelming, but don't panic. Keep in mind that Eternatus will be a 'Level. 60 Poison Dragon' type. This means that this Pokemon will be weak against; ice, ground, and physical attacks. By design, the second phase of this fight will feel a lot like a 'Max Raid' in which players won't be able to use any Pokemon's for the first few turns. Just roll with the punches and let Eternatus throw out some attacks. After this happens, Zamazenta and Zacian will show up and this will cue the last segment of the Eternatus battle.
So, before starting the fight, try and stack the Pokemon party that can dish out the appropriate types of attacks. If players don't know which Pokemon to use for ice attacks, Espurr and Sneasel are good ones to use. They can also be useful with physical attacks if need be. Players will need to break him down until Eternatus is finally beaten. Once this happens, use any ball to snatch him up. Eternatus comes with a 100 percent catch rate, so there should be no problems with which quality ball is at the player's disposal. Once players have Eternatus in their collection, it'll finally be time to face Leon and knock him off his Champion status once and for all. When using Eternatus, he comes with a move called "Dynamax Cannon". This doubles the damage against any Dynamaxed Pokemon, and players can bet that Leon has them in spades. Also, this move has a 100 damage output against any lesser Pokemon.
Thusly, having Eternatus in a party while playing a Max Raid Battle is recommended. They're always good to have just in case a Dyanmaxed Pokemon jumps out of a competing trainer's ball. Even though Eternatus looks rather unbeatable, don't be too thrown off during this encounter. Unfortunately, even though players will have to fight Eternatus during his "Eternamax" form, players don't be able to use this move once they have him. Nonetheless, Eternatus can render any Pokemon party almost unbeatable due to his high damage stats. Luckily, it is virtually impossible to miss him during the playthrough and was clearly meant to be used with further playthroughs afterward.
