All About Pinterest, Your Business
{this post may contain affiliate links, see disclosure for details}
If you want to read the most up-to-date informationfor Affiliate marketing on Pinterest in 2023, be sure to check out my newest post HERE!
If there was one thing I could go back and change (right when I first started my blog) would be to dive head first into affiliate marketing. I think it took me so long for two reasons, I didn’t know how it worked, and I didn’t think it applied to my blogging niche (which at the time was a lifestyle blog focused on Motherhood). Boy was I wrong!
And here is why!
Any blogging niche can make money with affiliate marketing. I repeat, ANY BLOGGING NICHE! In fact, lifestyle bloggers can earn a KILLING with affiliate marketing! IF, you know what you are doing. What do I mean by that? Affiliate marketing isn’t as simple as writing a blog post and tossing in an affiliate link. Sure, that may work, and you may get a sale or two. But if you are serious about making a consistent income, there are some steps you need to take!
What does your target audience want from you?
Who is your target audience? What are their interests? First, you need to figure that out. Then once you do think about what products, companies, businesses fit in with your target audience. Make a list, jot down ideas. Then search to see if they have any affiliate programs. A LOT of companies do! But they don’t always make it easy to find that information out. (you can check out a list of over 85 affiliates organized by blogging niche here)
Only recommend products or services you would use yourself!
Don’t just throw out affiliate links if you know nothing about the product or service. Because, if it ends up being a crappy product people won’t buy through your links anymore. The VERY best way to market an affiliate is to write up a review about it. Think about when you want to buy something, would you rather purchase a product that has an amazing review or just one you found online? Reviews!
Market your affiliates ALL OVER!
Send that review to your email list, post on your FB page, in YOUR FB group (don’t have a FB group? You need to start one! Like yesterday! Click here to learn how!) Market the heck out of it on Pinterest and Instagram! I am still making money from posts that are over a year old! Why? Because they are on Pinterest! Pinterest is the best free form of advertising EVER!
Stay motivated by keeping track of your sales
I found that when I started to track my affiliate sales and saw the money coming in and growing each month, it motivated me EVEN MORE! So if you want to take affiliate marketing seriously and really start making some money then enter your info below to get your FREE PRINTABLE Affiliate Tracker! Because how awesome would it be to even make an extra $100 a month? That was my goal when I started. I would never have imagined making what I do today. EVER. So GET BUSY!
ONE MORE THING! Always be sure to state that there may be affiliate links within your post. I always reference my disclosure at the beginning of every single post. You don’t want to make the FTC mad!

I’ve just started getting better at remembering to add affiliate links in my posts, especially if I’m reviewing a product. And disclosure is definitely important. I cringe a bit when I see posts where the blogger hasn’t made it clear that there are affiliate links.

I was getting pretty discouraged with my attempts at affiliate marketing. But I just cleared my first $50! Haha, I know it’s such a small amount, but it feels like a great success!

Thanks for this. Right now I’m in a situation where I seriously need to generate income really quick. Not just because it’s holiday time, but just because there’s so much we really need. I hope I can make this work.

Thanks for all the great information! I have been putting my affiliate disclosure at the bottom of my posts, is this wrong? I have a friend who helps edit my posts and thought it looked bad at the top. I also put one in my footer. That way it is always visible….any thoughts?

Affiliate programs are the best! It’s easy to get lost in the countless programs you’ve signed up with and I found creating a spreadsheet that you can organize alphabetically helps! Or better yet, group them into categories 🙂

I have just started using affiliates. It has been about two months, still haven’t made a penny :(. My focus has been on producing worthy content, not on traffic. So I am hopeful that once I focus more on traffic, I will see a few dollars roll in. Thanks for the information!

I’m truly agreed with the point that uses the product before recommending to others. It gains more trust from the customer since we walk the talk. We show to the people how good the product work with us.

Very good information. It is so true, to not just throw out affiliate links if you don’t know anything about the product or service. I’ve asked questions about products on some sites, and the site owner was not able to provide a respectable answer. You could tell they knew nothing about the product they were promoting. It pays to be familiar with the products you are promoting.
