How to Trust God with your Finances - Our Kingdom Culture (1)

I have been there before, trying to stretch out the last few dollars to make them last until the next paycheck.

How do you trust God with your finances when you are barely making it?

Trying to be faithful and obedient and at the same time, fearing that you may or may not have enough to pay for all your bills.

I really understand you.

There are a lot of posts on the internet about “How to trust God with your finances”. The reason that I’m writing a post about it, is because I know this truth can really change your life.

It is my desire that you live happy and prosperous in all areas of your life, and money plays a big role in it. Whether we like it or not.

This Bible truth that I’m going to teach you changed the way I look at my finances forever. Now I don’t have to worry about my finances like I once did.

How to believe God for your finances

When you were saved, you trusted Jesus with your salvation. You trusted that His Word was the truth and because of what HE did, you are saved forever.

The eternal salvation of your soul is the biggest thing you can trust God with.

So, if we compare eternal salvation vs. providing for your needs, you will see that providing for your needs, is the least you can trust God with.

Because, how can you trust God with your salvation and not trust Him with your finances?

What does God say about finances?

In the Bible, we can find lots of verses about finances.

God has his own financial guidelines for prosperity and success and you can read more about it here. But it comes down to 2 simple instructions:

Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure–pressed down, shaken together, and running over–will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Luke 6:38

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.

Malachi 3:10

So, you can see that tithing and giving were not suggestions but instructions. And the instruction come with the promise attached to it!

Remember, this is the same God that you trusted for your salvation. Same God for salvation, same God for finances.

If you really believe in His word why wouldn’t you trust Him?

If you are not giving, you are not trusting Him.

You can’t pick and choose which parts of the Bible you are going to believe and which ones you are not. It doesn’t work that way. You either believe Him or you don’t.

How to Trust God with your Finances - Our Kingdom Culture (2)

Are you following the instructions that God gave you about finances?

God always wants to be first in our lives. Trusting God with our finances is a great way to show Him that He is first.

Do you pay all your bills first? And if you have money left over, then you tithe and give? Or, do you give your tithe first and then all your bills?

When you give your 10%, God blesses the other 90% because obedience brings blessings.

When you don’t give your 10% you are stealing from The Lord.

Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you say, How have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings.

Malachi 3:8

How to tithe and give when you are struggling financially

I am a firm believer in God’s unfailing love. He is your Daddy and He loves you more than you can comprehend.

He has established principles for us to follow because at the end of the day, we are the ones that are blessed by them. There is no way around to what God has instructed, we just need to be obedient.

If you are not tithing for fear of not having enough or for whatever other reason, I know something you can do to help you get there.

Start with 1%

When you first get paid, take 1% and give it to The Lord as your tithe. As your faith grows and gets stronger then do 2%, then 3%, until you get to the 10%.

Remember, God doesn’t need your money, He just wants your obedience. He sees your heart and He will help you get to the 10%.

So, if you can’t give your tithe don’t feel bad or get upset, just start working towards it little by little. Have faith that God will take care of you. God will provide, you will see.

Trusting God with Finances Bible verses

The Bible is more than words on a page, The Word is alive and does what God sent it to do.

One of my favorite books is God’s creative power, it’s full of God’s promises and confessions for your life. You can get God’s creative power for finances here, it will be the best money you have ever spend.

If you are having a hard time trusting God with your finances, read the following Bible verses or the verses on the book. Meditate on them, pray over them and ask The Holy Spirit to give you a revelation of His Word.

Speak the word and choose to believe that His Word is truth and that His promises are for you.

  • So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ for these things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. (Matthew 6:31-32).
  • But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)
  • Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. (1 Timothy 6:17).
  • For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)
  • But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Phillipians 4:19).
  • Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing? (Matthew 6:25).

Remember this:

The same God who promised to save you is the same God who promised to bless you and prosper you financially.

If you need more help in this area I recommend that you listen to Andrew Wommack’s series on “Financial Stewardship”, you can find it here.

Trust God with your finances, have Faith, he will never let you down.

Don’t forget to share this post, every time you do, you help me spread the Word of God across the Earth!

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

I appreciate you sharing this wisdom today, especially how God’s word isn’t a “suggestion” but instead a instruction (and in His generosity, he even gives us promises) ♥

Love this post. We need to give with a cheerful heart as well as being obedient. It would be hard to tithe if we felt forced. But, as you said we need to trust God that he will provide. He will bless us when we tithe with a cheerful heart.

Interesting, I’ve always been a big believer that we create our own successes through planning and actions that we take. But if you find strength in this and it works for you then that is also great!

I agree with you 100%, we can create our own success through planning and our actions. My most important action is to trust God, and be obedient to His Word. I have seen God’s promises come true in my life so I know He is faithful. Being smart with our actions and planning will contribute to our success specially when we put God first!

Thanks for the reminder. I like the idea of giving 1% and increasing gradually – I want to tithe, and the 10% number that I hear at church makes me extremely nervous when I am living paycheck to paycheck. I need to have faith!

I find it fascinating how much yoga resonates with the bible. All these great points are the same in yoga. Probably that is why lots of people assume that yoga is a religion. Thank you for sharing this with the world! It is so important!

I think one of the hardest commandments that He has given us is to TRUST… So many times in the bible he asks us to trust Him. Trust that He will provide, trust that He will protect… It can be really hard sometimes! This was a great reminder and great encouragement.

I struggled with this post for reasons I’d rather not discuss, but it has nothing to do with trusting God or giving. To stay positive and avoid argument, I will say that I wholeheartedly do believe that trusting God is paramount, at least in my life, and He has always taken care of me no matter the situation. For that, I am humbled and grateful.
