Sorry, see the following from About encrypted backups in iTunes - Apple Support

There is no way to recover your information or turn off Encrypt Backup if you lose or forget the password.

and

You can't use an encrypted backup without its password.

When you try to use a backup, you might see a message that says, "The password you entered to unlock your backup was incorrect." If so, one of these things happened in the past:

  • You turned on the iTunes encryption option.
  • Whoever set up your device or transferred your data to a new device turned on the iTunes encryption option.
  • Someone set up an installed profile on your device (often for business or education). If so, contact your system administrator.

If you don't have your password, here's what to do:

  • If someone else set up your device, ask them for the password.
  • Use an iCloud backup instead of iTunes. If you don't have an iCloud backup, you can make one.
  • If it's still relevant, try using an older iTunes backup.

and

To turn off iTunes backup encryption, uncheck the Encrypted backup box in iTunes and enter the password. If you can't remember your password, you have two options:

  • If you have an iCloud account, you can use iCloud to backup and restore instead of using iTunes.
  • If you don't have an iCloud account, the only way to turn off encrypted backups is to erase your device and set it up as new.

OK, I talked with Apple Support by phone, and there is a way to remove the backup password:

(1) Back up your iPhone to iCloud

(2) Reset your phone and set it up as New

(3) Restore your iCloud backup to your phone

Apple Support assured me the backup password will not be restored. I am deleting gigs of data off my device and will be testing this solution. Stay tuned!

If your iPhone 7 already updated to iOS 11, you can turn off encryption on iTunes backup for future use with steps:

  1. On your iPhone 7, open Settings app, tap on General, find and tap "Reset".
  2. Tap "Reset All Settings".

This will remove your backup password and auto turn off iTunes backup encryption for your iPhone 7. When you open iTunes again, you’ll see the option of “Encrypt backup” is unchecked. But notice that you won't be able to use previous encrypted backups any more.

For more info, you can see here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205220

Hope my answer is helpful for you.

You can remove it if you have iOS 11. Read the post immediately above yours.

And no, Apple (iTunes is an app, not a company) is not listening here. This is a user-to-user forum. If you want to give Apple feedback, use this page:

HEY APPLE! Please add turning off encrypted backups from the iPhone settings! I have my iPhone unlocked -- how secure do we really need my backups now! A search for "Turn Off Encrypted Backup" in your support page brings up "11080 results found" results. I want to delete all my backups with the lost password and start a new one! I don't want iCloud backup! The backups in the MobileSync folder are over 55 gigabytes! I do not want to pay $40 for the 200GB tier nor wait for 55GB to go upstream over my wifi, and my PC is perfectly fine for my backups. I just need to set a new encryption password. My iPhone is unlocked. There's no need to protect my backups against privacy issues because my iPhone is unlocked and all the privacy issues are already handled from that! When the user has iPhone access, please grant them control over resetting the backup encryption so users that lose one of their passwords aren't screwed for the rest of their lives!!! Thank you!

Why did you bother to come to the forums at all? You were told this hours ago and just argued about it. And, apparently, wasted even more time calling Apple.
