A former world champion steps up to help Ilja Dragunov claim his first WWE Men's US Title Open Challenge. This thrilling story unfolds on WWE SmackDown, where Dragunov defends his newly acquired United States Championship.
The US Open Challenge, a weekly tradition, was revived by Sami Zayn, who dethroned Solo Sikoa in late August. Zayn's actions set the stage for Dragunov's return and subsequent title win.
But here's where it gets controversial... Dragunov's first challenger was none other than Aleister Black, a familiar face to Zayn. Black, accompanied by Zelina Vega, entered the ring with a plan. Vega's interference, a hurricanrana off the apron, went unnoticed by the referee, giving Black an early advantage.
Black almost secured the win with a sheer-drop brainbuster, but Dragunov managed to kick out, leaving the champion unable to capitalize on his Torpedo Moscow move. Dragunov attempted the H-Bomb, but Vega's interference, pulling at his ankles, resulted in her ejection from the match.
And this is the part most people miss... Damian Priest, with a burn from Black's fireball still visible, entered the scene. His distraction allowed Dragunov to connect with a final Torpedo Moscow, securing the victory and retaining his title. Priest's attack on Black continued even after the bell, with Vega once again stepping in to save Black by targeting Priest's injured eye.
So, what do you think? Is this a fair outcome, or should there be consequences for the constant interference? Let us know in the comments!
