World Cup 2023: India vs New Zealand semi-final: Mumbai Police has urged fans attending the India-New Zealand semi-final at Wankhede Stadium to beware of ticket black marketeers and counterfeit tickets. DCP Pravin Mundhe advises fans to purchase tickets only from official channels. Prohibited items include bags, tobacco, coins, paper, pens, power banks, water bottles, and objectionable banners. Fans are advised to arrive early due to security checks.
ANIThe Mumbai police has asked fans interested to watch the India-New Zealand semi-final match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today to be cautious about black marketing of tickets and also warned of fake tickets. The police has also asked fans to reach the stadium early due to security checks and said that items like power banks and water bottles are prohibited inside the stadium.
News agency Press Trust of India has reported that Mumbai police has arrested a person for selling tickets at four to times the original cost. "He was selling the tickets at four to five times its original cost. He has been charged for cheating and other offences under sections 420 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code," an official said.
The police is probing where he procured these tickets and to see if more people are involved in the racket.
Fake Tickets
Mumbai Police has also asked cricket fans to be more cautious while buying tickets. Mumbai Police DCP Pravin Mundhe told news agency ANI that police had registered cases against a few people for selling fake tickets during the India vs Sri Lanka match on November 2.
"Firstly I want to say that we have already arrested a few persons for black marketing. During the India vs Sri Lanka match, we registered cases on a few people for selling fake tickets outside the stadium. I ask the fans to be more cautious while buying tickets and get hold of it from the official websites only and pay only the amount written on the ticket," he said.

DCP Pravin Mundhe also asked the fans to reach the stadium early on Wednesday due to security protocols which may cause delays, while saying that items like water bottles and power banks are prohibited.
"The match will start at 2 PM but I request fans to visit the stadium early due to security protocols. We will be opening the stadium at 11:30 AM. Bags, tobacco products, coins, paper, pencils, pens, power banks, water bottles, and objectionable banners are prohibited inside the stadium. Only mobile phones, wristwatches, and wallets are allowed to be taken inside the stadium," he added.
The final of the tournament will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
