What will determine the size of your atlases (or spritesheets) is the necessities of your game. Pixel art games that will deal with very small images can pack A LOT of assets in a single 1024x1024 spritesheet, or even 512. But high resolution games might need several 4096x4096.
To install the Sprite Editor Package, select Package Manager from the Window dropdown in the Unity Editor.2.Click 2D Sprite in the left column, then click Install in the lower right corner (Figure 01).
There are various ways to create Sprite Animations. One way is to create them from a Sprite Sheet, a collection of Sprites arranged in a grid. The Sprites are then compiled into an Animation Clip that will play each Sprite in order to create the animation, much like a flipbook.
To use the images in a sprite sheet, you can import the file into Flash and then add the images to a timeline to create your sprites. Note: You can also use ActionScript to import and display images in a sprite sheet. The ActionScript defines which sprite sheet to use and the exact coordinates of each image.
After you import a sprite sheet, you can use the dedicated Sprite Editor to select sprites within the sprite sheet. You can also edit sprite properties in the Property Grid like any other asset.
