If a bank rejects an ePayment transaction or a test transaction when adding a bank account, the bank account is marked as invalid and inactivated in BILL. If you're expecting a payment, you'll need to ask your payer to resend payment.

Errors such as an invalid bank account number or sort code typically occur when customers mis-key data into payment systems or company forms, for example, or when customer service representatives mis-hear or mis-key customer account information.

The most common cause of the “Invalid Account” error is entering incorrect login and password values.

Sending a payment to the wrong account

If your money went to an invalid account, it will usually bounce back into your account. Retrieving a mistaken payment to a valid account can be more difficult. As a general rule, banks can reverse a payment made in error only with the consent of the person who received it.

The failed bank accounts can be re-submitted for validation in case of failed bank pre-validation: Click Re-Validate for the bank in the Failed Bank Accounts section and the account with status 'Validation in progress'.

The decline code “14: Invalid Account Number” in the context of a credit card transaction means that the credit card number entered is incorrect or does not exist. Invalid transaction. This code is often returned from the issuer when they do not accept the transaction. This can possibly be when a transaction for the same amount and merchant is attempted multiple times quickly for the same card. The card holder should contact their issuing bank.

If a bank receives a transfer or direct deposit to a closed account, it may reject the transaction outright. Depending on how quickly this happens, the money may never leave the sender's account, or it may get returned several days later.

Link the correct PAN to the bank account and click Re-Validate to submit request. Contact your branch for further information.
