How much does Vanguard charge for investment advice? ›

Vanguard Personal Advisor charges Vanguard Brokerage Accounts an annual gross advisory fee of 0.35% for its all-index investment options and 0.40% for an active/index mix.

To enroll, you'll need to meet the following requirements: You have a retail Vanguard Brokerage Account with a balance of at least $50,000. (If you're new to Vanguard, opening an account is simple.)

Money market funds and other securities held in the Vanguard Brokerage Account are eligible for SIPC coverage. Securities in your brokerage account are protected up to $500,000. To learn more, visit the SIPC's website. Up to $250,000 per depositor, per bank by FDIC insurance.

A financial advisor is worth paying for if they provide help you need, whether because you don't have the time or financial acumen or you simply don't want to deal with your finances. An advisor may be especially valuable if you have complicated finances that would benefit from professional help.

Overall, you might save money at Fidelity if you trade options, but Vanguard will be cheaper if mutual funds are your focus. The key difference is that Fidelity is low-cost for a wide range of investor types, while Vanguard is a great low-cost solution aimed primarily at buy-and-hold investors.

You won't pay a commission to buy or sell Vanguard mutual funds and ETFs online in your Vanguard account.

The securities that underlie the funds are held by a custodian, not by Vanguard. Vanguard is paid by the funds to provide administration and other services. If Vanguard ever did go bankrupt, the funds would not be affected and would simply hire another firm to provide these services.

What are the cons of Vanguard? ›

Money Market funds offer lower market risk and give your savings an opportunity to grow. This is the default fund for the Vanguard Brokerage Account settlement fund.

Vanguard Brokerage may charge a $100 processing fee for each account closure and full transfer of account assets to another firm. Electronic Bank Transfers and ACH are not subject to this fee.

Vanguard Personal Advisor is the better choice if you're looking to invest in low-cost ETFs, which Fidelity Go doesn't offer. Vanguard also rewards higher account balances with lower fees, making it the stronger choice for investors with huge account balances.

Digital Advisor's annual net advisory fee is approximately 0.15% across your enrolled accounts for a typical investment portfolio. And Personal Advisor's annual net advisory fee is approximately 0.30% across your enrolled accounts for a typical investment portfolio.

VNTC must review your trust and supporting documents prior to accepting a position as trustee. The minimum annual trust administration fee is $3,500. The maximum annual trust administration fee for any trust of $10 million or more is $17,500. Additional third-party fees such as legal and accounting fees may apply.

Vanguard Digital Advisor charges no advisory fee for the first 90 days and then an annual fee of up to 0.20% or 0.25% of the assets being managed (depending on customizations selected).
