John Travolta's latest Instagram post has fans buzzing, but not just about his adorable dog! The star recently shared a photo with his Chihuahua mix, Peanut, on set, sparking curiosity about his new project. What exactly is John Travolta up to these days? Let's dive in!
On Saturday, October 25th, the beloved actor posted a heartwarming picture with his rescue dog, Peanut, captioning it, "Guess who comes to this set with me every day!!" This simple post ignited a flurry of questions from fans eager to know more about the mystery project. One fan asked, "Set? Do we have a movie in the works? Cute buddy you got there!!" Another echoed the sentiment, "A new movie?"
So, what could John be filming?
John Travolta has been keeping busy with several direct-to-video action flicks in recent years, including Paradise City (2022), Mob Land (2023), Cash Out (2024), and High Rollers (2025). According to IMDb, the Grease star currently has six projects in the works. The most likely candidates for his current filming are Ed, an AI-themed sci-fi horror film that began production in September, and Black Tides, which has started principal photography in Gran Canaria, Spain.
Ed is set to star John alongside Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf, Gotham) and Chet Hanks (Running Point). The film, a cautionary tale, follows a sentient AI chauffeur who goes on a murderous rampage while monitoring reckless drivers for road safety. Deadline reported that filming for Ed was officially underway at Pangaea Studios in Atlanta last month.
Black Tides is a survival thriller that will see John starring alongside Melissa Barrera (Scream VI), Álvaro Mel (A Perfect Story), Dylan Torrell (Islands), and his real-life daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta (Eye for an Eye, Gotti). In the film, John plays Bill Pierce, who tries to reconnect with his daughter Rebecca (Barrera) and grandson Sebastian (Torrell) when their boat is attacked by violent orcas off the southern Spanish coast. Director Renny Harlin told Deadline that John and Melissa are "movie magic" together and that the cast had already bonded.
But here's where it gets controversial...
John's love for Peanut, his rescue dog, is undeniable. He adopted Peanut in 2022 after being inspired by Jamie Lee Curtis, who brought her dogs to the Oscars. John regularly posts updates about the energetic Chihuahua, and on June 22, 2024, he reminisced about the day he adopted her, writing, "The day we adopted Peanut on Oscar night! She's brought the biggest joy to our family."
