Kieran is one of the main protagonists of the Pokemon fanfic Pokemon:forever wounded, as well as the driving character behind the plot.

Background (events prior to Forever Wounded's first chapter):
Kieran was born in 2008, the younger brother to both Faith and Carmine Gabena. A year later, Juliana3 launched his raid on Kitakami, in which Faith Gabena was assumed dead. Kieran was never told about the existence of Faith, but frequently dreamed of him, which Carmine wrote off as simply a person that appeared in his dreams with no basis in reality. A few years later, his parents adopted Paul Gabena, who became an older brother to Kieran. A few years later, Paul, Carmine, and Kieran were sent to Blueberry Academy for their own safety. Paul and Carmine both did their best to protect Kieran from bullying during his time at the academy. Kieran remained very shy, and was bullied for his autism. Paul, autistic, empathised with Kieran, and would very often, and quite angrily, seek out those who had bullied Kieran and confront them.
Kieran, in 2023, a little over two years before the events of the fanfic's story, along with Carmine, won a school trip to Kitakami. There, he met a boy named Florian. Although Kieran and Florian got on well, Carmine was very suspicious of Florian. As well as this, when alone, Florian and Carmine saw the ogre that Kieran had long had a hyper fixation on. Carmine told Florian to hide their findings from him. Little did they know that this was the Iron Cult's plan, to slowly drive Kieran insane, as they had lured Ogerpon into that spot. As well as this, Kieran noticed Carmine was eager to make Kieran spend less time with Florian. Although Florian silently didn't like what Carmine was making him do, he continued to do it reluctantly. When Kieran was curious as to what they were hiding, he secretly listened to his grandparents, and overheard the true story of the ogre, that the ogre had not only been seen, but that, as Kieran had long suspected, was innocent, and, in fact, the hero of the story, and the so-called 'loyal three' being the ones in the wrong. He decided to test Florian's friendship, by asking him what they were talking about. The grandparents had told Florian and Carmine not to tell Kieran, which Kieran had heard. When Florian continued to lie, Kieran felt betrayed, as the test Florian had been put through had failed. Kieran then began to develop trust issues, issues that grew more when Florian caught Ogerpon at her own request, a Pokémon that Florian had not only shown little interest in, but a Pokémon that Kieran felt that he could have been friends with had he been given the chance to meet her. Kieran, betrayed by his crush, having been lied to, fell into self hatred.
He began hating everything that even resembled himself. He thought that the reason why Florian lied to him, and the reason why everyone bullied him, was because he was weak, and so he had to become stronger. He pushed himself, his mental health declining, and him suddenly snapping at people violently. He became Blueberry Champion, with the hopes of defeating Florian. He could not bring himself to blame Florian for lying to him, and instead blamed his own weakness for making lying to him easy. He also blamed his being bullied on his weakness too. He changed his haircut to look less shy, as well as his clothes. He was then defeated by Florian, who had been manipulated by Drayton into defeating Kieran. Drayton had told it was to improve Kieran's mental health, which Drayton thought he was doing, but in reality it was also out of spite because Drayton felt jealousy towards Kieran as he had lost his championship title to him. Drayton rubbed the defeat in Kieran's face, and Kieran fell into worse self hatred. Still desperate to gain respect from Florian and those who bullied him, he tried to catch Terapagos. Briar, a member of the Iron Cult, had been there in order to further drive Kieran insane in order to recruit him, however, Kieran did the unexpected, and joined Florian and Paul to fight off Terapagos, who had grown under control, as Carmine uplifted him and told him he was valued. He then made friends with Florian again, and they grew fonder of each other. He also made up with those he had snapped at, and took months off school to recover mentally.
The Iron Cult then decided to tie up loose ends and murder Kieran. They had planned to turn the people of Kitakami into a mindless horde and kill Kieran and Florian when Florian and his friends visited, through using Pecharunt, but this failed. Then, to the Cult's detriment, Kieran rejoined Blueberry Academy, and his mental health improved. Florian also joined the academy, and began to develop feelings for Kieran, too. The Iron Cult then decided to send an assassin to stab him in the terrarrium in November 2025, but this failed, as Paul and Florian were there.
