How many Legendaries are there? ›

Starting with just the 5 Legendary Pokémon in Generation 1, as of Generation VII there are 81 different Legendary Pokémon. Legendary Pokémon are typically rare and hard to get, usually being restricted to one or two of each species in each game they're available in.

The rarest legendary is Megalodon, and the most common Legendaries are the King and Santa Claus. However, King can be considered more common because Santa Claus is seasonal.

By far the most naturally powerful Legendary Pokémon, with 720 points, Arceus is the closest thing the Poké-world has to a God – and as such, has powers you won't find with any other. These include Multitype, allowing it to change forms at will, telepathy, and the ability to control other Legendary Pokémon.

Legendary Pokémon are rare, powerful Pokémon that are closely related to local lore surrounding the creation or destruction of a certain region. There is only one of each in the world, as opposed to the plentiful Pikachus that populate the Pokémon manga, games, and anime. Legendaries also can't evolve.

The main difference between Legendary Pokémon and Mythical Pokémon used to be how they were acquired: Legendary Pokémon are typically encountered throughout the story in each Pokémon game, whereas Mythical Pokémon could only be encountered through outside means.

Are all Legendaries one of a kind? ›

We know some legendaries are not the only one of their kind as we were shown a Lugia with it's baby in the anime, manaphy being able to breed and get phione or more manaphy in the right region, the fact that we can encounter more than one of each legendary bird in the Let's go games etc.

From the data we can see that the Psychic type is the most legendary type; followed closely by Dragon, Flying, and Fire. Curiously there are no legendary Pokémon of either the Bug or Poison type. The three Pokémon that have the Fighting type possess it only as a secondary type.
