Switching to a job with a lower salary often means trimming your expenses, but it can come with a raise in free time and work-life balance.
They Chose to Take a Pay Cut—and Say They’re Happier

Whoever takes a paycut due to work environment is weak and insufferable. Unless your employer wants you to do something illegal or unethical, you shouldn’t go to another job for “better work environment” in exchange for a paycut. The simple reason behind that is given enough time, that new job that you got will become difficult and at that point, what are you gonna do? Jump ship again and take another paycut? I hate to say it but the more money you make working in a job, the difficult it becomes unless you are the decision maker or until you hit that sweet spot where you become one of the decision makers in the organization. So the solution is, if you really hate what you do but you make a lot of money, then keep doing what you hate for money, and then do what you love with the money. I know it sounds unpopular, but if you’re smart enough, you can save up all those money and you can gather sufficient capital for yourself to become financially independent, and even retire early.
