Minecraft: How To Cure & Create Zombie Villagers | Zombie Doctor Guide - Gameranx (2024)
Save your Villagers and earn big rewards! Here's how to cure zombification.
Zombies are a constant menace in Minecraft no matter what version you’re on — these undead enemies spawn in the darkness and they’re ready to pass on their curse to any unsuspecting Villagers they find. Depending on your difficulty, there’s a good chance any Villager defeated by a Zombie will become a rare Zombie Villager. And here we’re going to talk about these guys. Whether you want to cure them or create more (and make sure they don’t despawn) — let’s talk about the basics of good Zombie Villager care.
Zombie Villagers will sometimes spawn when a regular Villager NPC is killed by a Zombie. Depending on the difficulty, this will happen sometimes or all the time. In Minecraft: Java Edition, Zombie Villagers retain their job with a green and tattered version of their previous appearance. Zombie Villagers can pick up weapons and armor left on the ground, too!
Zombie Villagers | Spawn Rate When Killed By A Zombie
Easy: 0%
Normal: 50%
Hard: 100%
Otherwise, Zombie Villagers behave exactly like regular Zombies. The only difference is that Zombie Villagers do not become Submerged after drowning in water.
Anything that causes Weakness will work: Creeper Explosion / Arrow of Weakness / Lingering Potion of Weakness will also work.
Golden Apples can also spawn (generally) in Underwater Ruin Altar Chests, Dungeon Chests, Woodland Mansion Chests, Igloo Chests, Mineshaft Minecart Chests, and in Stronghold Altars.
Splashing Potion of Weakness can sometimes be found in an Igloo Brewing Station.
How To Cure Zombie Villagers | Step-by-Step
Lure the Zombie Villager you want to cure inside a structure to keep them safe. Zombies die in the sunlight, so move them under a roof. Zombie Villagers you’ve traded with previously will never despawn.
Use the Splashing Potion of Weakness on the Zombie Village to apply the Weakness effect. You can also use Tipped Arrows, Lingering Potions, a Witch attack or a Creeper’s explosion — obviously using a Creeper is dangerous, so not recommended.
Select the Golden Apple and use it on the Zombie Village with Weakness applied. If done correctly, the red dots will appear around the Zombie Villager and it will begin to shake. After 5~ minutes or so, the Zombie Villager will be cured.
And that’s it! A cured Zombie Villager will provide heavy discounts to the player for any future trading. You’ll also earn the Zombie Doctor achievement / trophy for saving the patient.
How To Create Zombie Villagers
This is the easy part. Creating Zombie Villagers requires 1 Villager NPC, and 1 Zombie. Find a village filled with Villagers and wait at night for a Zombie to spawn. Lure the zombie inside a Villager’s house, and trap the two inside a house together. Easy! Well, not that easy.
Zombie Villagers will spawn 100% of the time when on Hard Difficulty after a Zombie kills a Villager. On Normal, it’s only 50% of the time. Keep that in mind!
Zombie Villagers will also always spawn in Igloo Basem*nts or in (extremely rare) Zombie Villages. They’re rare, but it is possible to find them in the world! Even if it took some players 5~ years to discover their first Zombie Village.
Zombie Doctor is an achievement and advancement for Minecraft that needs a player to heal a zombie villager. To do this, a player must throw a Splash Potion of Weakness at a Zombie Villager and give it a Golden Apple by facing it and pressing the "use" button.
Equipment, items, and mobs needed to cure a zombie villager
Either 1 Splash Potion of Weakness, or 1 Lingering Potion of Weakness if you want to heal multiple zombie villagers, or 1 Arrow of Weakness, or 1 Witch to throw a Splash Potion of Weakness.
First, you need to trap a zombie villager and weaken it using a potion or some other way. Then, you can feed it a golden apple to start the curing process. But the curing process is a long and tiring one, so you have to wait for the zombie to turn back into its regular form.
After the new villager claims the bed and workstation, you add another bed and another workstation, restart the spawner, and capture another zombie villager to convert. When you have two villagers, you can continue adding beds and workstations, and breed the villagers.
Baby zombie villagers are faster than their grown-up counterparts and will not age. Zombie villagers can be cured and returned to normal villagers if weakened using a splash potion of weakness, and then fed a Golden Apple.
Unfortunately, the Zombie Doctor Mercy skin doesn't come free. You will need to go to Overwatch 2's in-game shop and find the Zombie Doctor Mercy Bundle, which will cost you 1,600 Overwatch Coins. The Zombie Doctor Mercy Bundle includes the skin and an epic weapon charm. 1,600 Overwatch Coins will cost you $19.99.
Use Golden Apples to Cure Zombie Villagers in Minecraft
Once this is done, players must throw one of the Splash Potions onto the Zombified NPC. While the Weakness Status Effect is active, players must feed the Villager a Golden Apple.
Undead Space is an achievement that can be obtained on the iOS and Android versions of Plants vs. Zombies. In order to earn it, the player must kill 10,000 zombies or more and then scroll to the edge of space on the Leaderboards screen. The player can keep track of their kill count by going to the Leaderboards.
The discount from curing a zombie villager persists permanently. If a villager is cured more than once, its discounts increase until the price reaches the minimum of one emerald.
This is not the case for normal villagers. Zombie villagers that have been cured and are used to start a new village (player made) never breed, even if given more than enough food/beds.
Here's how you can cure the zombie villager: Throw the Splash Potion of Weakness at the zombie villager. Feed the villager a Golden Apple - you can do this by approaching the zombie villager and pressing the 'use' button.
In previous versions of Minecraft, players could cure a zombie villager and reinfect it multiple times, allowing the trading discount provided after curing to stack. However, as of version 1.20. 2, players can only receive the discount once, as Mojang stated that the stacking effect wasn't intended.
As of 1.14, you can change a villager's profession by giving it a job site of the correct type. You may have to destroy its current job site in order to change its profession. Keep in mind that any villager that has previously traded with any player will not be able to change professions.
To cure a zombie villager, you need a golden apple and a splash potion of Weakness. Once you have these items, find a zombie villager and throw the potion of Weakness at it. This will give the zombie villager the “Weakness” status effect, making it docile.
If a zombie attacks one of your villagers, it will turn them into a zombie villager. You can cure them by using a Splash Potion of Weakness and a Golden Apple.
