Personalized gift shop, yappy.com, has revealed the dog breeds that are most likely to be spoiled by their owners according to where they live across the US. The study includes over 300 popular breeds and spans 450,000 individual pet profiles to unveil the pooches that are most likely to be treated with the most accessories, gifts, bandanas and other treats.
The data also ranks the most spoiled breeds overall - with three of the US's most sought-after breeds topping the list...
Top dog: The Dobermann is crowned the US's most spoiled dog
1. Dobermann
The Dobermann, has been revealed as the most spoiled dog breed in the US. Celebrated for their loyal, intelligent and protective personality traits, yappy.com’s data has unveiled that out of the 300 breeds studied, this athletic and noble breed is the most likely to be lavished with treats and gifts by their owners. The Dobermann also came out as the top dog in the states of Wisconsin, Louisiana and West Virginia. Loved for their loyalty to their families, these affectionate pups love to work and make excellent guard dogs. The ‘Dobie’ is no stranger to the stage and screen, regularly appearing in Hollywood movies, television shows and fashion shoots thanks to its graceful and elegant appearance. Ranked the 17th most popular breed in the US by the AKC, this breed is ideal for energetic and active owners who can keep up with their Dobie’s physical vitality.
2. Whippet
Hot on the Dobermann’s paws is the sleek and sweet-faced Whippet – a lightening quick breed that does what it says on the tin! Yappy.com’s data has shown that this independent, yet affectionate breed is the second most spoiled pooch in the US and the most pampered breed in the states of Georgia, Michigan and New Jersey - showing that there’s a lot of love for this energetic and loving breed. Dog lovers are treating their fur babies as human members of the family
A survey carried out by yappy.com's pet community of 57k Instagram followers showed that 62% of dog owners have personalized a gift especially for their pooch in the past year, with popular choices including bandanas, pillows, leashes, collars and blankets featuring their dog’s name, breed and individual profile.
It seems that there are no limits to how far dog parents will go when shopping for their fur babies with respondents listing gifts including a designer jacket, a puppy stroller, monthly haircuts and other grooming at a puppy spa, a $300 bespoke bean bag, a massage bed, an indoor dog house, a personalized suitcase, a Louis Vuitton collar, a Prada handbag, an orthopaedic bed, an iPad, a treadmill and an ultrasonic toothbrush.

The most spoiled dogs of the US data was collated over the last 12 months from May 2020 – May 2021 and studied 300 popular breeds and over 450,000 individual dog profiles generated across yappy.com. By looking at the highest average spend per breed and by region, the data reveals the overall most pampered dogs in the US according to their breed, name and where they live. The study also reveals the least spoiled names according to yappy.com’s data only – it doesn’t mean that these dogs aren’t as loved and adored by their owners as the others!
