Why is my card not accepted by app on Apple Pay? ›

Contact your card issuer to see if they support Apple Pay. Update to the latest version of iOS, watchOS, macOS, or visionOS. Confirm that you have Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, or a passcode set on your device. Make sure that you are in a supported country or region.

There are several reasons you Apple Card MasterCard may not be working. The most common is the merchant's network used for processing credit card transactions is down/having issues. If the issue persists, it could be a problem with the physical card.

If you can't make purchases or update apps, including free apps, you need to update your payment method or add a new one. If you already verified that a payment method is available in your country or region and you're still having trouble, contact your financial institution.

If your application is declined because your identification information couldn't be verified. Make sure your name, address and other information provided on your Apple Card application is correct. If you find inaccurate information, re-enter the information as needed.

If you see the message "This card cannot be used," check if your bank or card issuer currently supports Apple Pay: Apple Pay participating banks in Canada, Latin America, and the United States. Apple Pay participating banks in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

If this is the first payment that you've received or if you turned off the setting to automatically accept payments, then you need to tap to accept the money. Tap Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, then make sure that you turned on Apple Cash.

User reports indicate no current problems at Apple Card.

If Apple Pay is not working on your iPhone, make sure the terminal works with Apple Pay. If it does, try selecting the credit card manually from your Wallet app. Other tips include replacing your credit card in the Wallet app and signing out and back into your Apple ID.

Your card may be declined in places like the App Store or iTunes Store if you have outstanding payments. To check for unpaid purchases, view your App Store purchase history. Do the following to view your App Store purchases on an iPhone or iPad. Go to Settings > Apple ID name.

Your income is low or you have heavy debt

Though they don't appear on your credit report or factor into your credit score, your income and debt-to-income ratio – your total monthly debt obligations compared to your total monthly gross income – could also affect your Apple Card application.

If you're using an accepted payment method but your Apple ID is set to a different country or region, change your country or region. If the Add button is grayed out, you might be in a Family Sharing group and you use purchase sharing.
