I used the one on my router (AT & T uverse) but my printer is rejecting it. They call ot a "password" , not a "Passphrase" & it is a combination of letters & numbers.

Hi @whynot2day,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I gather that you are having problems entering the password/passphrase for your wireless network to connect your HP printer.
I have included a link to HP’s Wireless Printing Center – Troubleshooting Issues page. Please choose “Your printer has never worked over the network” and then choose “What router settings are you using”. It will walk you through finding the information you are being prompted for.
If that above doesn’t assist you, please let me know the following information in your next post:
- What model and product number of HP printer do you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
- How is the printer currently connected, if it is connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
- What operating system are you using? whatsmyos.com
- Are you getting any error messages other than the one for the password/passphrase? If yes, what do they say and where are they displayed (computer or printer)?
Thank you and regards.

Hi @islandmary
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are unsure what the password is for your wireless network so you can connect your wireless HP Printer.
Please Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues. You can also watch the HP Printer Support YouTube Video titled Using the HP Print and Scan Doctor to Retrieve Your Wireless Network Password for the steps to retrieve your network password.

My HP wireless printer (Officejet Pro 8600) keeps uncoupling itself from my laptop
......and I am finding it impossible to reconnect it using the HP Help Centre. I keep rebooting my laptop and turning the printer off and on - all to no avail. It is a huge nuisance and most frustrating.
As a UK user, I do not recognise the phrase "WPA Passphrase".
On the bottom of my BT (British Telecom) router are various details:
1. A wireless network (BTBusinessHub-124)
2. A Wi-Fi Key (a long number)
3. A Hub Password (another long number)
Which one of these is the WPA Passphrase?
If none, what is meant and where can I find this information?

Hi @JCTHH
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are unable to maintain a wireless connection with your Officejet 8600 printer and your BT Home Hub.
The WPA Passphrase is your Wi-Fi key, presuming that is the password you use to connect to your wireless network.
I’ve also included the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection document. It has several steps working reviewing to help the printer maintain its wireless connection. Quite often setting a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer helps. If you are unsure how to do this the steps can be found in the document. I have also included a link to another post that has the steps, including screen shots on how to do this.
In addition, I have worked with a couple of customers who had the BT Home Hub 5 and there are some router settings that Hub seems to prefer that might also help you with your BT Business Hub. Please set the router to the 802.11 b or 802.11 b/g setting, not the 802.11 b/g/n setting. Also please set the router to Channel 9.
Please let me know the outcome.

Hi @upto
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you would like to learn more about the WPA password.
Did you encounter any issues when following the suggestions in my post above yours? If yes, at what point did you encounter the issues?
Thank you.
