Summary
Mycroft Holmes is the older brother of Sherlock and a supporting cast member. Originally introduced to be Sherlock's 'rival,' he was later revealed to be his older brother and a British Intelligence Agency member. At first glance, Mycroft is depicted as a manipulative and tyrannical older brother who always uses Sherlock to benefit the country and himself. However, all he did was protect Sherlock from harm at any cost, his own life included. Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius. (Mycroft is immensely intelligent and possesses incredible analytical and deduction abilities that surpass even his younger brother Sherlock, with Sherlock saying he has always been the "smart one" between them[1] and, as children, even made Sherlock think he was a fool[1]. And as seen in Mycroft's appearances in Sherlock's Mind Palace[5][6], Mycroft is superior to Sherlock. He is the second most intelligent human on Earth. Even Eurus admits that Mycroft was very clever, that if she goes a bit slower for him, he can pick up things in her scope[4]. Mycroft's power of deduction are extremely high, surpassing even that of Sherlock, who is renowned to be the greatest detective in the world. His superiority to Sherlock was shown when he discovered what had happened to a hiker by simply "glancing over the police reports"[7], when he corrected Sherlock's deduction about John[8], when he and Sherlock have a deduction battle and, as always, Mycroft wins[1] and when he could perceive that Alex Garrideb was short-sighted but had corrective laser surgery, which Sherlock's deductions had missed, from simply looking at his clothes[4]. And Mycorft's superiority to Sherlock was demonstrated over[5] and over[6] again in Sherlock's mind palace. Together with Sherlock, they devised and flawlessly executed an extremely complex plan to take down Moriarty and his criminal organization. This plan included making Moriarty feel victorious and superior, neutralizing Moriarty's assassins, destroying Sherlock's reputation, faking Sherlock's death in front of John, and more[1]. Mycroft's immense intelligence makes him extremely skilled at learning new languages, as shown when he goes to rescue Sherlock after his capture in Serbia. Mycroft learned Serbian completely in 2 hours and was fluent enough to save Sherlock[1].)
Weaknesses: Magnussen noted that Sherlock is Mycroft's only weakness as the latter tends to make decisions that benefit Sherlock even if self-destructive. He doesn't like the sight of a bloody mess.
