State television in North Korea has blurred images of the trousers worn by a British celebrity gardener before screening his programme.
Central TV broadcast an edition of the BBC's Alan Titchmarsh's Garden Secrets from 2010 on Monday in the secretive country, but ensured viewers could not see his jeans.
North Korean authorities regard jeans as a symbol of Western imperialism and warn their citizens against wearing them.
Titchmarsh, 74, told the BBC the move had given him "a bit of street cred."
"It's taken me to reach the age of 74 to be regarded in the same sort of breath as Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart. You know wearing trousers that are generally considered by those of us of a sensitive disposition to be rather too tight."
While he said his jeans were not too tight, he accepted they fell foul of North Korean authorities.
"I've never seen myself as a dangerous subversive imperialist. I'm generally regarded as rather cosy and pretty harmless so actually it's given me a bit of street cred really, hasn't it."
Jeans are closely associated in North Korea with American tastes, so wearing them is almost tantamount to treason.
North Korea never officially banned them, but you don't see people wearing the same blue denim that is common almost everywhere else in the world.
Leader Kim Jong-Un reportedly regards with disdain the skinny-style jeans which are popular in South Korea.
It remains unclear how the BBC's Garden Secrets show came to be aired on North Korean state TV.

While Titchmarsh said he was "surprised" to be shown on screens in the country, the programme has been broadcast before, reports the BBC.
While access to the global internet and satellite dishes is restricted to elite North Korean citizens, foreign media content has been smuggled in over the Chinese border on memory cards.
