Q : Is a demat account necessary to trade in shares?
Yes, to trade in any stock, you compulsorily need a demat account with a registered depository participant. Even if you are applying for an IPO, you need a demat account to invest in primary market.
Q : What securities can I hold in my demat account?
Your Arihant demat account allows you to hold your financial securities in dematerialized form including but not limited to shares. In this digital locker you can hold bonds, mutual fund units, NCDs, ETFs, gold bonds, and government securities.
Q : What do I need to open my demat account?
You need your Pan card, Aadhar card and bank details, mobile number along with a picture of cancelled personalized cheque, pan card and aadhar card to open your demat account with Arihant.
Q : What charges are involved in maintaining a demat account?
We offer different demat account plans to suit your needs and help you minimize your costs. Having said that, the Demat Account Charges can be divided in three parts:
Account opening charges: First of all, there are no account opening charges, no matter which plan you choose.
Account Maintenance Charge (AMC): There is an (AMC) in certain plans, while it is exempted in others.
Transaction charges: Whenever you transfer securities from your demat account to the exchange (selling stock in Arihant) or make an off-market transfer, you will be levied a nominal transaction charge.Other charges: This includes dematerialization charges of physical share certificate, pledge charges, account freezing charges and rematerialisation charges, and penalties.
Q : Are my securities and shares safe with Arihant depository?

Arihant Capital has a stellar track record of serving investors since 1992. We are a registered stock broker and depository participant with SEBI and CDSL (DP ID-43000) & NSDL ( IN-DP-127-2015 & DP ID-IN301983), respectively.
No transaction can be effected in your account without your written authorisation. We also send you your holding statements that lists holdings and transactions in your demat account, on a periodic basis. Even the depositories send you statement of your holdings. This helps in keeping a check on any wrongdoing in your account.There are several checks and balances in place – internal and by regulator – to ensure your securities are safe in your demat account.
We have every intention of sticking around for the next century and beyond……. However, if anything happens to Arihant DP that required us to close our operations, your interests will be fully protected as per SEBI guidelines. In such a situation, you will be given an option of either transferring the securities to a new DP or rematerialise your securities in physical form. No matter what, your investments are always yours.
