Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid)

The Oregon Health Plan (OHP) is Oregon’s Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program plan.

  • You can get OHP if you meet income limits and other requirements. People of all ages and any immigration status can qualify.
  • OHP provides free health coverage.
  • OHP may cover medical, dental, mental health care, and help with substance use disorders or addiction.
  • The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) makes sure people qualify for OHP. Once you are approved, you will work with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to manage your care.

If you are 65 or older, blind or have a disability:

You may qualify for Medicaid benefits or long-term care services. You can qualify even if you are working. You get these benefits through the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) and Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs).

If you were in foster care:

You can get OHP if you are 18 to 25 year old and were in foster care. Learn about the programor read the frequently asked questions. The program is called "FFCYM" which stands for Former Foster Care Youth Medical.

Medicare

Medicare is a national health insurance program for people age 65 or older. You may also qualify for Medicare if you are younger than 65 and have:

  • A disability
  • End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) - This is permanent kidney failure that requires dialysis or a kidney transplant
  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) - This is also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease

If you don't qualify for one of the programs above, you can find individual health plans (also called private health coverage) through the Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace.
