Peanut Butter Popcorn Recipe:
Popcorn is the best fall snacks. We love making it for movie night, the holidays, and even for game day. This Peanut Butter Popcorn mixture is the perfect combination of sweet and salty. It is the best popcorn flavor that you can not resist and it is our favorite.
This snack mixture only requires 5 ingredients and instantly you have a snack everyone will love. The peanut butter is melted with the corn syrup and sugar to cover every kernel of the popped popcorn.
This crowd pleasing, sweet and salty mixture is a staple holiday snack. You will love how crunchy and flavorful the popcorn is that you will be coming back for more. It has a caramel popcorn flavor.
Ingredients:
- Popped Popcorn (approximately 3 bags)
- Granulated Sugar
- Light Corn Syrup
- Peanut Butter
- Vanilla Extract
How to Make Peanut Butter Popcorn:
- Add Popcorn to bowl – Place the popcorn in a large mixing bowl and then set aside.
- Heat corn syrup and sugar – Heat the light corn syrup and sugar in a small saucepan over medium high heat.
- Bring to a boil – Stir the mixture together constantly. This ensures that the sugar does not burn and bring the mixture to a low boil. Allow the mixture to boil for approximately 2 minutes. We recommend over medium heat.
- Stir in Peanut Butter and Vanilla – Then remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter and the vanilla extract.
- Drizzle peanut butter sauce – Once fully combined, drizzle the sticky peanut butter mixture coating the popcorn. Gently toss the popcorn to coat it with the peanut butter coating in a large bowl.
- Add popcorn to baking sheet – Pour the popcorn on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper. Allow for the mixture to cool (approximately 10-20 minutes).
- Serve and Enjoy – Then the popcorn is ready to serve and enjoy!
Variations:
- Add in Nuts– You can easily add in any nuts. Our favorite has been peanuts but almonds would be great as well. For that extra sweet and salty combination use salted nuts.
- Drizzle with chocolate –We just drizzled melted chocolate over the popcorn and it was absolutely delicious! You could even experiment with all sorts of different chocolate. White chocolate would be amazing and you could even mix the two. All of the different swirls of chocolate would look so pretty as well.
- Add chocolate chips –Try peanut butter or butterscotch! I think it would be delicious to use several different types of chocolate morsels.
- Microwave Popcorn – We used microwave popcorn, but you can use any type of pop popcorn.
Recipe Tips:
- Corn Syrup – Do not boil the corn syrup mixture for longer than 2 minutes. As it will be hardened and difficult to work with so watch it closely as it cooks.
- Combine Ingredients – Make sure everything is combined before covering the popcorn.
- Line Baking Sheet – Before placing peanut butter popcorn on baking sheet, cover with parchment paper.
