U.S. consumers who use credit and debit cards are now receiving new cards with embedded chips that replace their old magnetic stripe cards. To help ease the transition for cardholders, Consumer Action has created "A consumer's guide to 'chip' cards," a free publication designed to help credit and debit cardholders understand why the transition is taking place, how the checkout process will change, what consumer protections they will have and where to get more information.
Also known as EMV ("Europay, MasterCard, and Visa"), the chip card technology is already widely used in other countries because it provides greater protection against fraud at the payment terminal. While the new cards will be just as easy to use, the process — insert instead of swipe — will be a little different. Cardholders who haven't already received replacement cards are likely to receive them from their issuing bank by the end of 2015.
Sutton Bank Visa Credit Cards are now contactless EMV, meaning your can simply tap your card to pay at contactless readers found at participating merchants. It's safe, highly secure and has the same protection as chip payment. When you tap your card, a cryptographic code that's unique to the card and to the transaction is created. Therefore, issuers can automatically detect and reject any attempt to use the same transaction information more than once.

SecurLOCK Equip requires you to have a credit card account issued from Sutton Bank. You will also need an Apple or Android smartphone. After downloading the app you will be instructed to enter your full account number then other authentication information. Once registered you can begin using the app immediately.
