A poisoned Roblox item is one that has been obtained through illicit means. They have become a boogeyman of the trading community. Owning a poisoned item has a small possibility of warranting a ban to the owner and whatever means it took to get to them. This is because Roblox suspects owners, and past owners to be mules for the item. Poisoned Items are most likely stolen accounts with limiteds.

Spreading[]
Poisoned items may be spread through two ways. Trading, and being sold. Trading is the more feared way, as it is hard to know what items are poisoned. Though, being sold is more of a threat to less experienced traders; who are buying their first limiteds'. If a trader is more experienced, they have a smaller likely-hood of being poisoned.
How to Avoid[]
Avoiding poisoned items is simple if you take the right steps. There are a few third-party websites, such as Rolimons, which are known for being reputable in the Roblox trading community for allowing people to check the UAID of items and therefore see if they have been stolen from an account. Do not trust any online 'poison checkers' as they are all fake and will likely result in your account being stolen yourself.
Another good method of prevention is to background check the account you are trading with, looking for their account creation date, their history of value gains (must be checked on a third-party site) and other factors such as badges to conclude if they are a legitimate trader or someone with poisoned items.
A common misconception is that all items obtained through illegitimate means, such as USD buying, are 'poisoned,' and this is entirely untrue. Items like this, while they still carry a degree of risk, are safer as long as you trade for them legitimately. The best course of action is to just steer clear of these items altogether, and remember: Use trusted third-party sites, background check the account you are trading with, and when in serious doubt just don't trade with them.
Punishments[]
Normally, Roblox will realize the buyer had no intention of trafficking items, though they make errors from time to time.
- If the total RAP of the poisoned items adds up to under 10k, the owner is extremely unlikely to receive any punishment.
- If the RAP adds to over 10k but is below 100k, punishment on a first time offender is much less likely and will be treated with more leniency from Roblox.
- If the RAP in sum is over 100k, the user has a possibility of a permanent ban or removal of said item/s.
- If the item is a very rare item, the item is always considered to be above 100k no matter its current RAP. An example would be the extremely rare 'New Year's Crown 2012' with a RAP of 90k.
- If the item has been stolen from a Roblox YouTuber or Developer, a harsh punishment or ban is likely for items above 100k RAP and should be taken with extreme caution for items below 100k. These items are especially risky and you should not trade for them at all.
Though, a majority of players, especially people who trade items below 100k RAP, do not have to worry as the possibility of getting banned is unlikely unless you are a repeat offender. If by some chance you do get banned, use Roblox's support poll, and send them an Email. This will possibly get you unbanned, you will no longer have your poisoned items and a you may have a refund of said items. Note that Roblox support is less lenient on larger items.
Reputation[]
The threat of poisoned items is real and especially risky to traders with over 200k+ value. Though, they are very harmful, the possibility of Roblox making an error is slim. The most common punishment is usually a warning for first time offenders/smaller items, then the items removed or a permanent ban. You may be here because you fear of being banned because you've bought or traded for a suspected poisoned item. The best method to prevent risk of your account getting banned is to get rid of the poisoned item by trading it to others, as items that go through multiple traders are 'cleaned' in which Roblox usually does not consider them to be poisoned anymore. If your account receives punishment for this, simply do as said in line six of Punishments. You shouldn't have to worry about this, it's rare to receive punishment, as you're only doing what's right. However, if you have owned poisoned items before in the past, and especially if you have gotten warned/punished for owning one, you are much more at risk of a permanent ban and removal of said items.
