When you enable auditing, customer engagement apps (Dynamics 365 Sales, Dynamics 365 Customer Service, Dynamics 365 Field Service, Dynamics 365 Marketing, and Dynamics 365 Project Service Automation), store the change history for transactions in the form of audit logs in the database. You can delete old or unwanted logs to restore database space. You can choose to delete audit logs by table, by access logs, or by date range.
Find out audit storage by table
To assist you in determining which audit logs to delete, we have created the GetAuditStorageDetails Action where you can get audit storage sizes by table.
Using a tool like Insomnia, you can retrieve the audit storage information.
In the Auditing section, under Free up capacity, select Delete audit logs.
In the Select logs to delete pane, select one of the following options:
By table
Access logs, by people and systems
All logs up to and including the selected date.
Select Delete.
Note
You can only delete the oldest audit log in the system. To delete more than one audit log, continue to delete the oldest audit log until you have deleted enough logs.

Go to Environments, select an environment, and then select Backups & Restore > Restore or manage. On the Manual tab, select a manual backup to restore, and then select Restore. Select whether you want to include audit logs.
With the Audit Log you can reduce the risk of data loss and handle such cases on your own, quickly and easily. You can find the deleted Records in a Form, Folder or in the entire Database and review which user deleted them and when.
Disadvantages of Audit Trails A further concern is when computerized audit logs are used that automatically record all transactions; if anyone is given access to the logs, then transactions can be modified or deleted, obscuring what actually happened and making it much easier to commit fraud.
On the Server Auditing page, click Delete All Logs to delete all logged audit events. A confirmation window is displayed. Click Delete to confirm deleting all logged audit events.
The default retention period for Audit (Standard) has changed from 90 days to 180 days. Audit (Standard) logs generated before October 17, 2023 are retained for 90 days. Audit (Standard) logs generated on or after October 17, 2023 follow the new default retention of 180 days.
You can do this by clicking the 'Restore Deleted' button, which will bring up a list of all the deleted records, from which you can select the desired record and click the 'Restore' button to retrieve it. Bingo! Your desired record will be restored quickly.
Select "Condense data" if you are working with a version of QuickBooks 2000 or earlier, and you are finished. For versions of QuickBooks after 2000, select "Clean up Company Data." Select either the date ranges for which you want to clear the audit trail or the option to delete all transactions.
Select Setup > System > Processes > Delete Audit Trail Records. Click the File button and select the files containing the audit trail records you want to delete.
If the audit trail target is or was a database table, you can delete old audit entries, for example to prevent the audit table from growing indefinitely. You can do this using the Security editor of the SAP HANA studio.
For example, you may keep audit logs and firewall logs for two months. However, if your organization must follow strict laws and regulations, you may keep the most critical logs anywhere between six months and seven years. This timeframe is the log retention period.
