If your recovery seed phrase has been lost, or if you think that yourrecovery seed phrasemight have been compromised, we recommend sending your funds to your other Trezor device as soon as possible (seeMaking payments).

If you own only one Trezor device, you can move your funds to a new wallet with a newly generated seed, but doing so safely is a relatively complicated process.

Lost your recovery seed

If you lost your recovery seed, but still have access to your wallet, you should move your funds elsewhere immediately. You can then wipe the Trezor device and create a new wallet with a new recovery seed.

It is recommended to have a spare Trezor device for situations like these. If you have time to do so, order the second Trezor device from theTrezor shop.

If you already have a spare Trezor, or once your new Trezor arrives please proceed with the steps described in the "You have mulitple Trezor devices available" section of this article.

Be sure to follow the instructions below carefully and always be sure to write down the recovery seed phrase carefully.

You will need:

  • Your Trezor device
  • A sheet of paper (an empty recovery cardornew backup recovery seed)
  • A pen

If you are under time pressure, consider taking these steps:

1. Send you cryptocurrencies to a third-party compatible wallet.

Warning: by sending your cryptocurrencies to a third-party wallet, you are exposing your coins to a potentially dangerous environment. This should only be done in emergency situations.

2. Wipe your Trezor device:

3. Set up your Trezor with a new recovery seed and carefully write the seed down

  • Process for setting up a Trezor Model One in Trezor Suite
  • Process for setting up a Trezor Model T in Trezor Suite
  • Process for setting up a Trezor Safe 3 in Trezor Suite
  • Also consider enabling passphrase protectionfor an added layer of security

4. Now you need to get the receiving address for your newly generated wallet:

  • Go to the Accounts page and select or add an account for the cryptocurrency that you will be transferring.
  • Click on the Receive tab in the selected account.
  • Click Show full address and make a copy of the receiving address of your new Trezor account (see Receiving payments).

5.Transfer the cryptocurrencies from the third-party wallets to your newly backed-up Trezor wallet.


Your seed has been compromised

You only have one Trezoravailable

You will need:

  • Your Trezor device
  • Your current recovery seed
  • A sheet of paper (an empty recovery cardornew backup recovery seed)

1. Make sure you have the original recovery seed available. Before starting, check the seed is valid by performing a dry run recovery:

  • Check your recovery seed on a Trezor Model T
  • Check your recovery seed on a Trezor Safe 3

2. Wipe your Trezor device:

3. Set up your Trezor with a new recovery seed and carefully write the seed down

6. Wipe the device:

7. Recover your old wallet using the old recovery seed:

8. Send your funds to the receiving address you generated from your new seed (see Making payments).

9. Wipe your device again.

10. Recover your Trezor using your new recovery seed.

11. The funds should appear as a pending incoming transaction.

You have multiple Trezor devices available

Skip the first step below if you wish to use an already initialized Trezor (with existing and backed-up accounts)

1. Initialize your other device. Create a backup for this new wallet by carefully writing down the recovery seed offline:

  • Process for setting up a Trezor Model One in Trezor Suite
  • Process for setting up a Trezor Model T in Trezor Suite
  • Process for setting up a Trezor Safe 3 in Trezor Suite

2. Make sure that you have your new recovery seed written down and verify it by performing a dry-run recovery:

  • Check your recovery seed on a Trezor Model One
  • Check your recovery seed on a Trezor Model T
  • Check your recovery seed on a Trezor Safe 3

3. Generate the necessary receiving address(es) and make a copy of it or them

4. Transfer the cryptocurrencies from the device with the original recovery seed into the other device (see Making payments).

5. Wipe the original device, or use the old seed for other purposes:
