Pay a request

Important: If you’re opening the request from a notification, start from step 5.

  1. Open Google Pay Respond to a request for money (1).
  2. Tap the name or photo of the contact who sent the request.
  3. Tap the Pay option on the request.
  4. Review information about the requester, amount, and description and choose a form of payment.
  5. Tap Proceed to pay.
  6. Enter your UPI PIN.

When the money has been sent, you’ll get a notification. You'll also receive an SMS from your bank with the debited amount.

Decline a request

Important: If your contact has a Virtual Payment Address (VPA) or a Unified Payment Interface (UPI) ID from another UPI or bank app, you can use it to request money through the Google Pay app.

  1. Open Google PayRespond to a request for money (2).
  2. From the bottom of the screen, slide up.
  3. Tap the name or photo of the person who sent the request.
  4. On the request, tap Decline.

Cancel your request

Important: If your contact has a VPA or UPI ID from another UPI or bank app, you can use it to request money through the Google Pay app.

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay app Respond to a request for money (3).
  2. From the homepage, swipe up.
  3. Tap the picture of the contact you requested money from.
  4. From the list of transactions you made with them, select the request you want to cancel.
  5. Tap Cancel request.
