What is the Gold Portal in Risk of Rain 2?
The Gold Portal in Risk of Rain 2 is a portal that takes you to the hidden area known as the Gilded Coast. Gold Portals spawn after activating a Altar of Gold and completing the teleporter event.
Altars of Gold should be easy to spot: They loosely resemble Shrines of Chance, except they’re made of gold. As their name may imply, these altars are very expensive to activate, up to 10 times more expensive than Shrines of Chance.
After being activated, you’ll see a message that a Gold Orb has appeared. Once you complete the stage’s teleporter event, the Gold Orb will activate a Gold Portal. Step through it and you’ll be transported to the area known as the Gilded Coast.
The Gilded Coast is a hidden area in Risk of Rain 2. It’s the home of optional boss Aurelionite, the Titanic Goldweaver. The Aurelionite battle is unique in that you’ll need to activate five Halcyon Beacons by spending gold. Aurelionate cannot be damaged unless at least five beacons remain activated.
If you manage to defeat the Titanic Goldweaver, you’re guaranteed to earn the Halcyon Seed boss item. The Halcyon Seed will summon a friendly Aurelionite during the teleporter event, offering 100% damage (+50% per stack) and 100% health (+100% per stack).
The Gold Portal in Risk of Rain 2 is the main way to reach the Gilded Coast and fight Aurelionite. It’s also the only way to earn the Halcyon Seed boss item outside of using the Artifact of Command.
