How many days is enough for a safari? ›

For a well-rounded experience, 8-15 days is more than enough to have the safari of your dreams. This time frame includes rest time and taking part in other activities, but does not include flight travel time. For actual safari time in the vehicle bumping around, five days is the perfect amount.

Three of Four days is usually enough time at each camp

Depending on how many destinations you are planning to include in your itinerary, about 3 to 4 nights would be enough time at a safari camp. This would give you plenty of time to spot the wildlife on your bucket list, but also some time to enjoy the lodge.

To cover most of Botswana's active wildlife areas you need a minimum of 8 or 10 days, this will give you a good 2 nights in each area from Chobe Riverfront, Savuti, Khwai, and Moremi Game Reserve/Okavango Delta.

As a general rule, the dry seasons are the best for seeing wildlife as animals are forced to cluster around the ever-shrinking waterholes. The peak time for safaris in east and south Africa is June to September, during the dry season.

Guest often ask, “how far in advance should we plan our safari“? The quick answer is “ideally 9 to 12 months out”. i.e., if you are looking to travel in July/August, then we suggest you look at booking around October the year before.

In my experience leading groups on safaris, the average person prefers 2-4 days on safari maximum to make the safari experience an incredibly enjoyable one.

Conventional wisdom suggests the best time to go on safari is during the dry season, which is June to October for the majority of sub-Saharan Africa. It's easier to spot animals at this time, because they gather at water sources due to the scarcity. However, Africa's seasonality is legendary.

Generally, we ask you to plan for the Safari Drive-through taking around 2 hours to complete, so we recommend leaving plenty of time in your day to enjoy it. Note that at peak times that the Safari may take longer. Last entry for the Safari will vary depending on the date of visit.
