Save as Web Page: General options

Pages to publish

You can save all the pages in the diagram or just a range of pages that you specify.

Note:Background pages are not available as separate pages in when you're saving a drawing as a web page.

Publishing options

Specifies other features to include with the Web page.

Details

Select this option to display the data of shapes that people can view by pressing Ctrl while clicking the shape on the Web page.

Note:This option is supported for VML, JPG, GIF, and PNG output formats in Internet Explorer 5.0 and later. The Details control is not available for SVG output.

Go to Page

Select to display a Go to Page navigation control for moving between pages and reports in the drawing.

Search Pages

Select to display a Search Pages control that you can use to search for shapes based on their name, shape text, or shape data.

Note:This option requires Internet Explorer 5.0 or later.

Pan and Zoom

Select to display a Pan and Zoom window that you can use to quickly magnify sections of a drawing in the browser window.

Note:The Pan and Zoom control is supported for the VML output format in Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. The Pan and Zoom control is not available for SVG, JPG, GIF, and PNG output formats.

Report: x

Select to display reports that are available for the drawing.

Note:If you select a report as a publishing option when you save a Web page, Visio will attempt to generate that report. However, if no shapes in the drawing meet the requirements for the report query, the report can't be created. As a result, the Web page is created without the report.

Additional options

Select Automatically open Web page in browser if you want to open the saved Web page in your default browser immediately after you save the Web page.

The Organize supporting files in a folder creates a subfolder with a name that contains the name of the root HTML file folder in which supporting files are stored for the Web page.

Use the Page title box to define a title for the Web page that will appear in the title bar of the web browser. By default, the file name is used. You may change this name.

Save as Web Page: Advanced options

Use this dialog box to specify output formats, target monitor resolution, style sheets, or host files for embedding the Web page.

Output formats

Output format list

Specifies the output format for the Web page: SVG, JPG, GIF, PNG, or VML.

Because SVG and VML are scalable graphics formats, when the browser window is resized, the Web page output resizes as well.

If you select a format such as VML or SVG that requires a relatively new browser, the Provide alternate format for older browsers check box is made available.

Provide alternate format for older browsers

Specifies an alternate format (GIF, JPG, or PNG) when the page is displayed in an older browser.

If this check box is selected, output formats that are supported by all browsers supported by Visio are listed in the drop-down list. When users who have older browsers view the Web page, the selected alternate output format is used.

Note:This option is selected by default. It is recommended that you keep this option selected to accommodate the widest range of Web browsers.

Display options

Target monitor

Specifies the size of the graphic created for the Web page based on the screen resolution of the monitor or device on which you expect the majority of your users to view the Web page. The graphic for the Web page is sized to fit the browser window for the target screen resolution.

Choose the monitor size that matches the smallest resolution for the systems on which you expect people will be viewing your Web pages. For example, you would specify a resolution of 180x260 for Web pages to be viewed on a Pocket PC.

Note:This option is only available for GIF, JPG, and PNG formats. This setting is not required for SVG and VML because they are scalable.

Host in Web page

Specifies the Web page in which you want to embed the saved Visio Web page.

You will need to insert the following HTML tag in the host Web page to display the Visio Web page:

<IFRAME src="##VIS_SAW_FILE##">

Note:The Host in Web page option for Visio Web pages works only with browsers that support the <IFRAME> tag (such as Windows Internet Explorer).

Style sheet

Specifies a style sheet with color scheme styles for the left frame and report pages in the Visio Web page file that match the color schemes available in Visio. If you are saving a drawing that has a particular color scheme applied to it, you can match that scheme by choosing a style sheet of the same name here.
