Shadow (Shadow Fight) (2024)

Shadow is one of the main protagonists of the Shadow Fight franchise, serving as the main protagonist of Shadow Fight 2 and Shadow Fight: Shades and the secondary antagonist of Shadow Fight 3.

He was a great warrior driven by arrogance to find the worthy opponent. In his search, he opened the Gates of Shadows, a portal to another world, thus releasing Shadow Energy and unleashing the Shadow Demons inside. Losing his physical body and soul, Shadow, alongside the help of his Sensei, his blacksmith and later lover May, and a conman Sly, defeated the demons and closed the Gates. However, a force wave pulled May into the Gates, causing Shadow to defeat demons and open the Gates again. In the Shadow World, Shadow, alongside his new alien allies Kali and Cypher, ultimately rescued May and defeated Titan, an intergalactic conqueror and the creator of the Gates responsible for the events of the games. Regaining his physical body. Shadow married May and lived a happy life with her afterwards.

That was until he realised that the pregnant May brought Shadow Mind, the core of all Shadow Energy in the world, alongside herself after the destruction of the Gates of Shadows. Trying to save her, Shadow Mind summoned countless Shadow Beasts, but Shadow killed them all and accidentally killed May with their newborn son. Blaming the Shadow entity for her death, Shadow trapped it inside the glass Sphere. Becoming the ruler of the kingdom known as Legion, Shadow tried to destroy the entity once again, until he was told of Shadow Mind's ability to destroy and recreate the world. After hearing this, he went to May's grave, a portal through time, to find out what he needs to do it. Coming back to the present time, he destroyed neighboring nations of Dynasty and Heralds Dome, and was killed by his Descendant 10 years later, although he still indirectly succeeded in his plan to destroy the world due to his immensely high Historical Importance Index.

In alternate timeline (Itu's Plane), Shadow was trapped by Void Room, an amalgamation of Heralds's minds and May's Voice, inside a simulation of the world where Shadow Energy never existed, making him forget about his goals, until he was rescued by a Shadow Bot called Nanami. After this world was also destroyed, he was convinced by May's Voice to stop the original Shadow's Descendant, who was saved by her and who wants to recreate the Shadow World and kill his father across all timelines. Abandoning his goals, Shadow finally apologised for his actions and now helps Descendant's copies to defeat the original one, with Shadow Mind later creating a world Shadow wanted, a world where May is alive.

Appearance[]

Shadow appears as a muscular man with black (white in SF3) hair, which is tied in a black (red in SF3) bun. He wears long black pants. There are long white bandages tied on each of his hands and feet in Shadow Fight 3. His body is also scarred in the third game.

As a disembodied Shadow, he is completely black with white glowing eyes, although his eyes and scars are blue in the third game.

Personality[]

In Shadow Fight 2, Shadow was an arrogant warrior who wanted to fight strong opponents. This caused him to open the Gates of Shadows, breaking the laws of the Elders. While fighting the demons he released, Shadow fell in love with May, his blacksmith and weapons expert, and traveled to Shadow World and defeated Titan just to save her. He never speaks in the entire game, except when narrating his backstory in the opening.

In Shadow Fight 3, he became insane and vengeful from grief. He was unable to accept his guilt for May's accidental death, blaming it on Shadow Mind and the Descendant. As Shadow Mind pointed out, if Shadow didn't hate him, he would be able to bring May back to life right away. Anger and pain from the loss turned the Shadow into a hated tyrant who was ready to destroy everyone in his path in order to revive May. However, after talking with May's Voice and realizing his mistakes, his alternate timeline self tried to correct them and stop the Stranger, the real Shadow's Descendant who was behind all of the events of the game.

Biography[]

Shadow Fight 2[]

Backstory[]

Shadow was a great warrior who wanted to fight strong opponents. He opened the Gates of Shadows, hoping for a good fight. 6 demons emerged from the Gates: Lynx, Hermit, Butcher, Wasp, Widow and Shogun. They tore Shadow's flesh apart and drained his soul. According to Titan, he tried to brainwash Shadow, but failed.

Pursuit of Seals (Acts I-VI)[]

Returning to his Sensei, Shadow started travelling in the land to defeat the Shadow Demons and close the Gates of Shadows by using their Seals. After defeating Shin, Lynx's first bodyguard, Shadow met May, who became his weapons expert and later lover. On his adventure, he learned how to use ranged weapons and magic, and met Sly, a conman who became his ally. After defeating the demons and obtaining their seals, Shadow closed the Gates, but a force wave pulled May into the Gates, where she was brainwashed by Titan and became his soldier.

Interlude[]

To save her, Shadow fought the demons again and destroyed their seals to open the Gates again and travel to the Shadow World, despite Demons warning him about Titan's powers and actions.

Act VII: Revelation[]

Here, he was attacked by Shroud, Titan's soldier, but was rescued by Kali, an alien who wants to stop Titan, and brought to the Hideout where she and other survivors hide from Titan. With the help of Kali, Hideout's leader Cypher and Ancient, a powerful being and sole survivor of the race that was wiped out by Titan, he finally reached Titan. Before the final battle, he fought his bodyguards, Shadows from different timelines who became evil from the Shadow Energy Emissions, and the brainwashed May. Freeing May from Titan's control, he fought with the intergalactic conqueror and defeated him, which destroyed the Gates and gave back physical body to Shadow. Afterwards, he married May, and lived a calm and peaceful life with her, with a mysterious slithering shadow entity following them.

Before Shadow Fight 3[]

Shadow Mind's rise[]

Shadow and May lived a happy and peaceful life together, but everything changed when May became pregnant and Shadow realized she is carrying Shadow Mind, a sentient Shadow Entity and the Core of all Shadow Energy in the world. Shadow tried to destroy it, but to no avail. To protect May, the entity summoned Shadow Beasts, but they also killed or possessed countless people, making Shadow mass slaughter them across the land. Shadow, together with May, traveled to distant lands in order to find a way to destroy Shadow Mind, and stumbled upon a kingdom called Legion. When Shadow arrived here, the King of the Legion started following his percepts and formed a strong faith in Light, which made kingdom flourish. Legionaries also inherited Shadow's hatred of Shadow Energy, turning Legion into a militaristic faction that aims to destroy all of the Shadow Energy in the world. On one fateful night known as the Night of the Scourge, Shadow Mind summoned countless swarms of Shadow Beasts as a last attempt to save May and Shadow's Descendant. Shadow slaughtered every single beast, but in his rage, accidentally slaughtered May and the Descendant, with the Shadow Mind still surviving the massacre.

Becoming the new ruler of Legion[]

Blinded by rage and grief, Shadow vowed to destroy the entity, and became the new ruler of Legion after the King sacrificed himself in order to save the kingdom and after Shadow brought one of King's daughters, Moira, to a distant island to save her. His reign caused many Legionaries to rebel, but they were banished to North and became known as Northerners. Shadow tried to destroy Shadow Mind for many years, but failed. In his search for Legendary Shadow Sword, he and Night Warriors, his strongest Legionary Warriors, stumbled upon the neighboring nation of Dynasty. After seeing the battle between one of his Night Warriors and the Dynasty Prince, in which the latter emerged victorious, Shadow realized that this skillful country can help him to destroy Shadow Mind, but all that he could do is to split it from newborn Descendant and imprison inside a glass Sphere, killing Shadow's Son in the process. Shadow and the dynasts built the Sphere Temple to hold the Sphere's forces here, with the Prince becoming the next Emperor and The First Arrow/Arrow of Peace, one of the three people Shadow chose to protect the world from Sphere's powers. Shadow Mind asked many to release him from the Sphere, and this opportunity became real after Galen, Shadow's disciple and Emperor's bodyguard, detained a thief who wanted to sell the Sphere. Shocked by the power Sphere gave to him, Galen told about it to Emperor, which made Dynasty use Shadow Energy, causing Shadow and the whole Legion to become their enemy. After this, Galen became the Second Arrow, also known as Arrow of Power.

The new goal[]

Shortly after, Dynasty's Shadow Weapon Blacksmith called Bolo detained a weird-looking Stranger from the crypt after the former tried to learn the power of Shadow. The Stranger confessed that he is Bolo from future, and pointed at May's Grave that soaks with Shadow Energy, which is actually a portal through time. He also told Bolo about Shadow Mind's powers: It cannot be destroyed but it can recreate the whole world from scratch. Bolo told this to Shadow, and the latter lost all interest in the Sphere, instead travelling through portal into the future and find a way to destroy the world and create the world where May will be alive. Meanwhile Bolo became the Third Arrow/Arrow of Knowledge and created the faction of Heralds after finding May's incorporeal voice using Stranger's information and decoding her messages by creating the Void Room, which is created from the void that is trapped between thinniest walls of Shadow Energy.

Shadow Fight 3[]

Return of the Legend[]

Many years after, Shadow's Descendant suddenly appeared as the recruit of Shadow Squad, a special squad in Legion that uses Shadow Energy to protect the country from Shadow Beasts. Shortly afterwards, Descendant escaped from Legion alongside Dynasty Princess June. After Legion attacked Dynasty, Ling, Dynasty's Shadowsmith and the sole survivor of Shamans, ancient Heralds who were slain by Bolo, who became a leader of the rebel group known as Insusceptibles after the Shadow Rig Explosion and Legion's Invasion, told the Descendant and his company (June, a Herald called Itu and a former Legion General called Marcus) that the trace left by Shadow Beast that destroyed Shadow Rig is the same that was left after the Gates destruction, which marks Shadow's return to this world.

Hearing this, the party tried to find him to destroy Shadow Mind. They tried to search him on the Island where they found Moira, Legion Princess that was saved by Shadow, and in the Legion Capital, but to no avail. After the Descendant, who was told by Shadow Mind about it's backstory and Shadow's goals, reunites with it, they travel 10 years into the future through May's grave, where they will try to stop Shadow.

Shadow's Tyrannical return[]

Sometime after The Descendant and Shadow Mind traveled through May's grave, Shadow returned and usurped Legion throne from Queen Iolanda, Moira's twin sister. Starting from there, Shadow technologically empowers the Legion and invades Dynasty Capital, destroying everything except the palace because of Moira creating an invisible parallel reality Dome in panic. Afterwards, Shadow invades Heralds Dome to retrieve the Accelerator Core prototype, a technology that would destroy and recreate the world if Shadow Mind is inside of it. Desperate to end the bloodshed, several Heralds, including Itu, Queen Iolanda and Bolo retrieve the Accelerator Core from a Herald Shibata, but instead of sparing the Dome, Shadow slightly hit the Void Room, expanding the Shadow Wasteland and creating even more Shadow Anomalies. Other components of his plan are The Descendant, because of Shadow Mind inside of him, and Moira, whose Shadow Mind affinity allows her to take Shadow Mind from Descendant.

Descendant's return[]

10 years later, The Descendant returns, and tries to stop Shadow alongside Itu and Bolo. Before fighting him and his forces, Bolo told the Descendant to time travel thrice and replace some Shadow Bots in their timelines, just in case Shadow will destroy the world. After asking the Void Room how to defeat Shadow, it teleported them to Legion Arsenal, where they save Jet, a nomad and survivor of Dynasty Genocide who was hired by Itu to bring the Descendant to him, but who betrayed him shortly after, and go to Dynasty ruins to find Moira before Shadow's forces find her first. Realising that the palace alongside Marcus and June is trapped in an invisible parralel reality Dome created by Moira, they find Turquoise Fox, Jet's ally, who reveals that he gave Moira to Shadow because he came here and killed everyone except him. With Shadow's forces attacking the palace protected by the party, The Descendant and Bolo go to the Accelerator to finally face Shadow.

Final battle, death and defeat?[]

Inside the Accelerator, Shadow comments on how Bolo is not a useless madman after all as he brought the Descendant to him, to which Bolo replies that the Descendant came to Shadow to defeat him himself. Moira recognizes the Descendant, and tells Shadow to not fight, but to no avail. Shadow then tells Moira to take Shadow Mind from him, before telling the Descendant to prepare to die.

In the first phase, Shadow fights by piloting a giant robot. The robot is equipped with energy blades and rocket launchers, and cannot be knocked off by any attack, except Shadow Mind's energy beam. Shadow Mind quickly regenerates Descendant's Shadow Energy in this fight, and unleashes this beam when he enters Shadow Form. Moira cries in the background during the whole phase. After getting knocked off twice, the robot charges at the Descendant, but Shadow Mind quickly finishes the robot with one big energy blast.

In the second phase, Shadow fights by himself, without using Shadow Form or abilities. He uses a mixed fighting style of Legion, Dynasty and Heralds, which he uses to form a flurry of many deadly strikes. He is capable of concentrating his energy in a state of balance to become invulnerable. This protective aura is very hard to destroy, but can be instantly destroyed by Shadow Mind's energy beam. Shadow is defeated and knocked off as he is being approached by the Descendant, but Moira intervenes. Briefly losing control over herself, she unleashes an energy blast that knocks everyone except herself off and releases Shadow Mind from the Descendant. Realising it's freed, it tries to attack Moira, but Shadow tries to defend her and accidentally fuses with it.

In the third phase, Shadow is fused with Shadow Mind and as such, is in unlimited Shadow Form. Moira is seen crying helplessly in the background again. He is capable of creating weapons and performing advanced Shadow Abilities. He can also control Shadow Mind to make him unleash a powerful energy beam. Despite the Descendant losing the powers Shadow Mind granted to him, he managed to defeat and kill Shadow.

As Shadow dies and leaves Shadow Form, Moira runs to him and cries. Losing control over herself again, she knocks away the Descendant with energy blast, making them unconscious. She then pulls Shadow Mind from Shadow's body and throws it into the Accelerator Core, destroying the whole world in an energy blast.

This marks the beginning of Transformation Story Arc.

Transformation Storyline[]

The mysterious Stranger who told Bolo about Shadow Mind's powers in the past appears again, telling Shadow Mind that he can still stop Shadow by becoming more historically important than him. He then explains that the Descendant previously traveled back in time thrice, which created three side worlds. By obtaining the historical importance of his friends, the Descendant will surprass him. As Shadow Mind prepares to enter the first side world, Stranger tells him to keep faith in the Descendant.

Transformation: June's Plane[]

Shadow never appears in June's Plane, but is mentioned multiple times in the story. According to Queen Moira, he gave the Sphere to Dynasty because they promised to destroy it, but instead transferred it to a human baby, who is a Herald girl named Kibo.

Transformation: Itu's Plane[]

In this world, Dynasty stole the Sphere from Shadow, and he attacked them with his Legion Army. Sphere brought Dynasts to May's Lonely Voice in Desert, and they created Void Room/Nexus, amalgamation of her voice and minds of countless Heralds. They put the Sphere as Nexus's power source, and Nexus trapped Shadow in a simulation of the world where Shadow never existed and the Gates were never opened. This is because Void Room cannot defeat him physically, so it fooled him into thinking Shadow Energy never existed. Legionaries were then defeated and enslaved and their territory was occupied by Dynasts.

He was later released by Shadow Bot Nanami after she fooled party into hacking Void Room. When she found him, she reminded him about his actions and Shadow Energy that he brought to the world, and then provokes a fight between him and Proximus, who is his Descendant's copy. Proximus defeats him, but Nanami tells him to get up and says that Legionaries already await him and everything is complete for Cleansing, starting the uprising of Legionaries and Shadow Bots.

After Proximus defeats Nanami, Shadow Mind appears, and Shadow angrily tells it to not move. Shadow Mind then responds that it is too late, and that he is disappointed by this world and it's people, activating the Accelerator and destroying the world. Stranger then appears to Proximus, revealing his identity as the original Shadow's Descendant who was saved by May's Voice. He then leaves and fights Bolo/The Real Itu, before he reveals his true colors and his plan: He revealed to Itu that he told him about Shadow Mind's powers and May's grave to make Shadow abandon his former goals and to make him destroy the world, so Stranger will surprass Shadow in side worlds. He made Itu defeat him so he thought that he took this information by force, since he would've never believed him otherwise. He then proudly claims to have turned everyone into his pawns, but says that Itu was right by saying that the Descendant never existed, since he only existed as a small probability of his own existence, but thanks to his copies he became stronger than Shadow. Stranger then disappears by escaping through a Shadow Portal.

In another place, Shadow awakes and reunites with May's Voice, who apologizes to him for saving Descendant, since she never knew he would became evil, to which Shadow admits it was his fault for opening the Gates and accidentally killing May. She then explains to him that by defeating Descendant's copies, he can surprass the original Descendant again. Shadow then fights with half a billion Descendant copies, while May explains that one of those copies can defeat the original and that Shadow must find him. He replies that if this is true, then he won't stop until he finds at least one person who could stop the original, and says that he will save May no matter what, redeeming himself and becoming a hero once again.

Transformation: Marcus's Plane[]

In this world, Shadow sacrificed himself and the Sphere to save the King of the Legion from Scourge. The King then struck a deal with Master, who is the Original Shadow's Descendant aka Stranger, to have immortality for himself and his youngest daughter Moira and endless power for his country at the cost of Legion being consumed by the Scourge. The Immortals then took the power, starting the dark age of Legion, and Shadow was forgotten, with only steppe nomads knowing his story, although even his name was forgotten by them.

In Part III of this Plane, the party visits a mysterious temple where Shadow was born and where he died, his spirit was trapped in this temple afterwards. When he attacks them, he is quickly defeated by General, and is set free from Master's control. Then the spirit reveals himself to be Shadow from Itu's Plane, and says that this is the Descendant copy which he was looking for and who can defeat the original. He warns the party about the original Descendant, also known in this plane as the Master, who plans to open the Gates of Shadows and resurrect King of the Legion to kill Moira, since she is the only person who can stop him. He then apologises for causing suffering and chaos to the world, before disappearing.

Shadow was also mentioned again by the Real Itu, who tells Marcus that even Shadow himself abandoned his percepts and admitted that he made the world suffer.

Finale: The Gates of Shadows[]

In this world, the Gates of Shadows exist near the Accelerator Tower, Stranger took over the world, May is alive and is leading the Resistance against him and Shadow was the one who died.

As May mourns his death in the Crypt, Stranger appears, asking her why she is talking to a statue and asks her to command his troops. May says that he has to kill her first, and he effortlessly defeats her, but is unable to kill her and leaves, with May commenting that he has no guts to kill her. Kitsune-1 then arrives to treat her injuries.

Powers and Abilities[]

• Martial Arts: Shadow is a very skilled warrior who can perform and learn many martial art moves such as Double Sweep, Double Jump Kick, Elbow Kick, Fall Kick, Kick-Flip and Suplex. In Shadow Fight 3 Shadow utilises a mixed fighting style of Legion, Dynasty and Heralds and is capable of performing various deadly combos.
• Weapon Mastery: Shadow is incredibly skilled in many types of melee and ranged weapons, such as Katanas, Staffs, Sais, Cudgels, Scythes, Throwing Daggers, Kunai and Shurikens. He quickly mastered even the weapons of Shadow World, which are much more technologically advanced than those of his world, such as Whip Swords, Plasma Rifles, Landmines and Blasters.
• Perks: Shadow was taught many helpful Perks by his Sensei, such as Cobra, which gives him a chance to deal increased damage during the first 3 seconds of the fight, or Enlightenment, which gives him a chance to survive a death blow.
• Enchantments: Shadow can magically enchant his equipment using Shadow Orbs, getting the ability to regenerate, heal by dealing damage to opponent, absorb the incoming damage, stun his opponent or cause his opponent to explode
• Magic: Shadow has learned how to use various magic amulets in combat, giving him ability to create fire balls, energy balls, fire pillars, lightning arrows, poisonous clouds, summon asteroids and giant circular saws and many others.
• Legendary Technique: Protective Concentration: Over the years, Shadow has retained his defensive fighting style. By concentrating his energy in a state of balance, he can become invulnerable. This protective aura makes him completely invulnerable to any attacks, but can be instantly destroyed by very powerful attacks such as Shadow Mind's Energy Blast
• Story of the Hero: In the Shadow Form, Shadow can summon various weapons and perform advanced Shadow Abilities, such as Giant Sword's "Tumble" ability and Kusarigama's "Trip" ability.
• Shadow Nightmare: Shadow, fused with Shadow Mind, can unleash a powerful energy beam that can instantly destroy powerful protective abilities such as his own Protective Concentration.
