The number of viewers watching broadcast television has had the sharpest fall since records began, according to an Ofcom report.
As older audiences join the trend of watching streaming services, the proportion of people tuning into traditional TV each week has declined from 83 per cent in 2021 to 79 per cent in 2022, the research said.
The media watchdog also said that the average time spent watching broadcast TV per person per day had fallen from 2 hours 59 minutes in 2021 to 2 hours 38 minutes last year.
Original series, such as the reimagining of the British comedy film The Full Monty and Only Murders in the Building, starring Steve Martin, appeared to be resonating with those aged over 64 as Disney+
