Both Sub-Inspector and the Inspector of a police station can be stated as the SHO. A Station House Officer is the commanding officer of a police precinct (SHO). In India’s rural areas and townships, the SHO is a cop with the rank of Sub Inspector. The Distinction Between SO and SHO

Qualification of SHO
As of February 2019, India had 15,650 police stations. Station House Officers are either Inspectors or Sub-Inspectors. A Bachelor’s Degree is the minimum requirement for becoming a police sub-inspector. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised college or institute.
Difference between Inspector and a SHO
The distinction between an Inspector and a SHO Inspector is based on rank within the police force. The Uniform’s shoulder stripe depicts three stars, indicating the rank of Police Inspector. A Police Inspector is deployed to several Units of the Police Force, and his or her Rank remains the same if the Unit has a position for an official of that Rank. According to this description, the SHO is the official in charge of a police station. There is no mention of the SHO’s rank other than to say that the SHO might be any other officer from the Police station who is above the rank of a Police constable. This also suggests that the SHO does not have to be a police officer of the rank of Police Inspector. In larger cities/urban areas and metro urban communities, the SHO is a Police Inspector, however in small towns or Talukas, a Police Sub-Inspector can also be a SHO.

The law allows the SHO to file a lawsuit and punish members of the public who commit misbehaviour or tease girls, and he has the authority to take strict action against them. Candidates who wish to become Sub Inspectors of Inspectors must pass the exam administered by the State Government/Central Government. Following that, they must pass physical tests, which are also administered by the SG or CG. Eligibility for this post is a Graduation Degree in any Stream, it is not required that they clear their studies from commerce/science/humanity.
