Golden rake is good for ur stage until u get porc dipper and not spark staff
Dont buy golden rake, just buy scythe and then spam the red field boost thing and collect pollen and honey until u can buy dipper

@A Grape On The Igloo Except for the mountain top (And possibly stump) field, all fields are superior when you use golden rake as your collector.
Even on those fields I mentioned it's not a big change, it's not worth 3x the cost just for a worse collector.
Spark staff is bad since it could miss sparkles, goo and leaves (You cannot collect sparkles and goo with boots)
A Golden Rake is Precise, and has a good ability. The Spark Staff though is kinda good but can miss everything easily (like sparkles and goo). Boots could work, but its not that effective.
Yes, it is very necessary, you can just buy it and then farm to get the dipper
Just get a scythe or bubble wand and spam red/blue field boosts and grind
