Does Shutterstock pay? Yes, Shutterstock does pay. The company pays contributors for each image or video downloaded from the site. Contributors earn a base rate of $0.25 per download and can earn up to $120 per image depending on the image price, portfolio size, and performance level.

You must be 18 years of age to create a Shutterstock account. You may not share an account with another individual, and/or share content with another Shutterstock contributor without prior consent from Shutterstock.

Check your proxy settings (if applicable) to make sure that access to shutterstock.com and all its subdomains are permitted in your proxy settings. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be blocking access. Occasionally image-heavy sites such as Shutterstock will be blocked by an ISP.

If your content was rejected with “Similar Content - This content is too similar to another image or clip that has already been submitted or published”, it is because the content you submitted closely resembles another image or clip that has already been accepted to our site.

Which photos sell best on Shutterstock? ›

As a Shutterstock contributor, you will earn a percentage of the price Shutterstock receives for licensing your content. There are 6 separate earnings levels for images and for videos, ranging from 15% up to 40%. You can graduate through them independently based on your download count in each category.

Minimum payout: Enter the amount of earnings that must accrue in your account before a payment can be made. The minimum payout amount is $25 and the maximum is $2000.

The payment cycle for Shutterstock contributors is monthly. Accrued earnings for the prior month are calculated at the beginning of every calendar month. Contributors whose accrued earnings meet the minimum payout amount and are eligible to receive payment are notified by email once their earnings are calculated.

Do I need to request my payment? No, you don't need to contact us to request your payment. Contributor payouts are automatically calculated at the end of each pay period and delivered according to the payment method in your account settings.
