This article explains how to hide and show labels in Gmail.
How to Hide or Show Labels in Gmail
In Gmail, every label has its use and function, but there's no need to see labels you rarely use. Hiding labels is a simple matter in Gmail, as is restoring them when you want to see them again.
Use the Labels settings menu to show or hide relevant labels:
Open Gmail in a browser window and select the Settings gear in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Choose See all settings.
Select the Labels tab to display the Labels settings.
Select show or hide for each label in the list. The Settings screen lists all labels. The first group contains system labels. The second group contains categories—the tabs many people see along the top row of the inbox. The third group contains your custom labels.
Use this shortcut link while logged in to Gmail to go directly to the Labels settings screen.
Close the Settings screen when you're done. All changes you make take effect immediately, so there's no need to save or confirm your updates.
The changes you make govern your entire Gmail account, but if you access Gmail through an IMAP-enabled mail program, your label settings won't govern which folders (labels) you see in the mail client. In the Settings screen, control which labels appear as folders in IMAP by selecting show in IMAP. This setting complements but isn't the same as hiding labels within Gmail.
To collapse or hide the Gmail sidebar, click the Show/Hide button (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner of your Gmail inbox when the Gmail sidebar is open. With the sidebar collapsed, you can hover over apps in the main menu to see app previews and navigate through your apps.
To resize side panel: On the side of the panel, select and hold Drag .
To change the location of the side panel: On your computer, open Chrome. Select More. Settings. Appearance. Under "Side panel," select the side you want the panel to open.
To close side panel: At the top right, select Close .
Click on the gear icon in the upper-right corner and select See all settings from the menu. Click on the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab. Find the filter you want to delete. Click the Delete button at the right of the filter.
In other email programs, you might have stored email in folders. In Gmail, you use labels to categorize your email. Labels are like folders, but with a twist—you can apply several labels to an email, then later find the email by clicking any of its labels from the left panel. You can also search by label.
Under Density, choose one of the three available options. If accessing Gmail on an Android or iOS device, launch the app and tap Menu (hamburger icon) at the top-left corner of the screen.Scroll down and select Settings. On an iPhone or iPad, tap Conversation list density and choose one of three available views.
