Singapore Airlines Won't Suspend Barcelona Flights - Non-Stop Service Continues! (2025)

Singapore Airlines to Maintain Barcelona Flights Amidst European Network Cuts

Singapore Airlines (SQ) has announced a revised schedule for its non-stop service to Barcelona (BCN), ensuring continued connectivity between Singapore and Spain. Despite broader capacity cuts across its European network, the airline will operate one weekly direct flight from February 9 to March 8, 2026, instead of suspending the route entirely for a month as initially planned.

This decision comes as a relief for travelers who value the efficiency of non-stop flights. The direct route saves approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes compared to the Milan stopover, which was the alternative plan. The airline will continue to offer this non-stop service on Fridays, while the Monday flight remains suspended during the revised February schedule.

The regular twice-weekly non-stop service will resume from March 9, 2026, and will continue through the winter season and into summer 2026. During the summer, the frequency will temporarily increase to five weekly flights between late June and early September 2026 to meet peak demand, with the Barcelona via Milan flights paused.

KrisFlyer Award Rates and Upcoming Changes

For those booking award tickets, the KrisFlyer redemption rates on the Singapore–Barcelona route remain unchanged until October 31, 2025. However, from November 1, 2025, the airline will implement a KrisFlyer devaluation, increasing rates across all cabins. Business Saver awards will rise to 108,500 miles, while Business Advantage jumps to 141,500 miles.

Other European Routes Face Cuts

While Barcelona retains its weekly direct flight, other SIA routes in Europe are experiencing more significant reductions this winter. London Heathrow (LHR) will see a reduction from four to three daily flights between mid-January and late February 2026. Munich (MUC) will operate five weekly flights in February 2026, down from daily. Paris (CDG) will have 10 weekly flights, a decrease from 11. Rome (FCO) will cut its services from four to three weekly for most of the winter.

These adjustments reflect seasonal demand trends and fleet optimization within SIA's European network.

Bottom Line

Singapore Airlines' decision to maintain one weekly non-stop Singapore–Barcelona service through February 2026 ensures direct connectivity to Spain, even during a lower-demand season. This move offers travelers a faster option and maintains operational continuity on a key European route. With KrisFlyer rates set to rise from November 2025, frequent flyers may want to secure award bookings soon.
